QUIZ RECAP

Whoooooaaa! Quizmaster Lou is having a strange night. Must be the diet he's on. Can't seem to keep
numbers straight on a page. They seem to runaway like little ants in that Bugs Bunny cartoon. Darn
this diet! Won't let me have any booze to drink! That must be the problem. I have too much blood
in my alcohol system. Now, back to those rankings... The Allen Fairview Chamber Friends is in third
place. No. The Poonswagglers are in third. But the AFCF was in first place the round before. That's
normal. But mistaking 47 for 49 is not! Or is it? Life would be so much less complicated if all the
scores would just automatically arrange themselves in numerical order after each round.

Well, aside from Quizmaster Lou's personal nutritional turmoil, Tuesday night at Kilarney's was a blast!
Welcome to newbie team CKSC. They wouldn't tell me what it stood for, but I hope they show up again so
I can come up with some zingers! Aside from the rookie mistake of doubling down too freely and too
often, they did rather well. That is to say, they didn't come in last. Resident champs Tequila
Mockingbirds got off to a slow start then flew in deftly for an 11th hour win. The Divorcee's settled
in court for second while the mighty Poonswagglers swaggled into third.

The cavernous hall at Kilarney's seems to be filling up on pub quiz night. It was like a Viking lodge
the night before a raid. Eat, drink and be merry, et al... And why not, for indeed it was the eve of
Independence Day! And our quiz experts at KTPQ did a marvelous job of styling the questions to fit
this, the anniversary of our nation's emergence. And not just the obvious avenues of history either.
They managed to put in something old, something new, something red, white and blue! (See what I did
there?)

This week's parting shot comes from the late jazz drummer Buddy Rich, who died after surgery in 1987.
He was being prepped for the operation and a nurse asked him, "Is there anything you can't take?" Rich
replied, "Yeah. Country music."
