QUIZ RECAP

Is trivia the tie that binds? Certainly, when one knows an answer but
cannot remember it, it can tie one into knots. But even though we indulge
this kind of stress, we consider ourselves luckier than those who couldn't
play because they were all tied up. Speaking of ties, we had two of them
last night at Kilarney's. One necessitated a tie-breaker for third place.
The other was for sixth place so they trusted in Allah, but tied up their
camel anyway. (Which makes no sense but Quiz Master Lou was desperate for
one last "tie" metaphor to tie it all together.) Uh, anyway...
Resident champs Tequila Mockingbird took home the gold with a 53 point win
while IFFY! conquered silver with 46 points. The aforementioned tie for
bronze was between Wossamata-U and a newbie team: Wait for it... Two Girls
and a Guy Walk into an Irish Pub! That's their team name. For real. They
made an amazing comeback in Round Six with a superlative Double-or-Nothing
that placed them within striking distance of the winner's circle; But, the
old school prevailed, winning the tie-breaker and the rest was a history
professor.
We thank the ever loyal Allcoballics, Poonswagglers, Seal Team 3 and of
course, our wait staff, the Barflies, who became too busy to finish but
are always too cool to lose. (?!?) (And a big welcome to new barman Rick,
who served with aplomb!)
