QUIZ RECAP

Kudos to Killarney's for always being a great venue to do the King Trivia Pub
Quiz in. This is in no small part to the wait staff there. Thanks to the
lovely Riley, Michael, Geoffrey, Zou (?) and Niko (in absentia) who always make sure
Quiz Master Lou has what he needs! Hats off to you all. It is worth mentioning
as well, that the Barflies, their home team, continually improves performance.

Last night's quiz was like watching a steeplechase where the contestants are
making great progress on courses one, two and three, hit a snag in the mud on
course four, get completely snagged in the bushes on course five, sail through
six, then hit an unclimbable wall on course seven!

Quasimodo got a couple of hits instead of the correct Phantom of the Opera for
the Guess Who mud course. The ivy that entangled the contestants on Find-the-
connection were Osculation and Honey Smacks (almost all teams guessed sugar
smacks, the defunct brand). As for round seven, a word, please... The trouble
and complexity some statisticians go through to produce a study of a particular
data set is truly dazzling in its marksmanship and abysmally appalling in its
results. Just getting the concept across is daunting. Last night's sub-sub
set of actors filmographies sum careers equating to top box office grossing
totals was no exception and brought to mind Disraeli's quip, "There are lies,
damned lies, and statistics!" Nuff said.

Resident champs Tequila Mockingbird held first from the get go. Apropos as one
of the questions was about To Kill a Mockingbird! Pleasant Pickles on a Plate
got second while One Left in the Chamber took third. Welcome to newbies the
Dallas Boolers Club. (No, really. It's "Boolers". I dunno...) And that's all
