QUIZ RECAP

There was a strange and giddy energy in the air last night. Perhaps it was the
odd, atmospheric conditions that precede a storm. Perhaps it was the blood, red
full moon which rose on the horizon. Maybe it was the pain killer and Guinness.
Whatever it was, it cast a queer spell of euphoria over the proceedings at
Killarney's as we set about our usual rat killing for a Tuesday's King Trivia
Pub Quiz.

The first oddity of the evening was the three way tie for first place which
permeated rounds one and two. It then turned into a two way tie between One
Left in the Chamber and the Dallas Boolers Club which went all the way to Round
Six before DBC had a breakout and catapulted into a solid first place win with a
Double-or-Nothing. One Left in the Chamber became the ones left holding 2nd
place while the real drama was between the Barflies and Pickles on a Plate, who
ended up in a tie breaker for third! Pickles won by getting closer to the
melting point of gold than did our learned wait staff.

Shout outs to newbies Fly Girls and Sofa King Awesome, who both showed some
great sportsmanship and moxie. Poonswagglers took home the lion's share of
style points for their irreverent identifications of various quarterbacks as
Tiger Woo, Bam Bam Flinstone and Big Head Fred; And, particularly for their
Find-the-Connection conclusion of, "Never Have Been in my Kitchen!" A
tip of the hat to our quiz writer overlords who came up with a pretty cool
movie set for the Handout Round - Match the Best Picture winner to the decade
they were released. It turned the game for most, who tasted either the sweet
cup of victory or the bitter dregs of defeat... Or, the mediocre blandness of
somewhere in the middle. Brand consistency is getting harder to come by these
days.
