If there was any one thing that stood out in last night's KTPQ at Killarney's, it
was the punny wordplay. It was puny. (See what I did there?) Actually, it was
quite clever in the instances it mattered. For example, Round Six's title of
"I Just Can't Wait to be SpeaKing", matching Lion King characters to their voice
over actors, was especially clever. As to yet another repackaged version of TLK
after a successful (and some might say classic) animated film and then a Broadway
musical, plus all the ancillary toys, games, T-Shirts, etc.... One might say that
Disney has gone to the well too many times. But, let's not go there. (Too, late!)
Another gem was the Round Seven's "Americans at Risk", naming the North American
Territories on a standard Risk game board. Pure genius on their part! Gosh, that
brings back memories of playing Risk with your friends. And how that one kid was
always the winner, knocking off opponents one at a time, forcing the others to
follow suit, causing alliances and betrayals... Just like in the real world of
political world domination! Come to think of it, Monopoly is just like that, too!
Hey... I'm starting to get a tin foil hat feeling about Parker Brothers...
Welcome to newbie teams Get in Where You Fit In, the Kellyanos and Irish Whiskey-
pedia (great name). One Left in the Chamber clawed their way to first place as
Wossa Matta-U leap frogged over the Dallas Booler's Club for second. That action
positioned the IFFY!/Blood, Bath & Beyond alliance to beat out the Poonswagglers
for third. And Tequila Mocking Bird... Just because.
Quiz Master Lou says have a great week!
