QUIZ RECAP

If any one thing could be said that typified Tuesday night's King Trivia Pub
Quiz at Killarney's, it would be that the question sets provided natural segues
into which Quiz Master Lou could inflict his throaty warbles upon the hapless
crowd. Indeed, Question 4 in the opening General Knowledge Round provided an
inspired improvisational riff on Joni Mitchell's (or Judy Collins' if you prefer
the original) Both Sides Now; Which prompted QM Lou to disgorge this take:

Cirrus, stratus and cumulus,
Classify what O-ccurence?
High altitude wind turbulence,
I've looked at clouds that wayyyyy...

And if that weren't enough, singing the answers to the Hand-Out Round's song
title completions (some, not all) may have broken a few pint glasses! After
all, who can resist imitating Bob Dylan's high pitched nasal scratches or ole
Blue Eyes' cover of the Girl from Ipanema? (Although this Quiz Master would've
preferred Astrud Gilberto's comely interpretation.) Although round seven got
into the lead singers from Genesis, I couldn't for the life of me think of a
single, single! Nor would it have been appropriate to reawaken the memories
of the over saturated radio play of Sussudio... But, I digress.

A big welcome back to IFFY!, who graced Killarney's presence last night. And a
really huge congratulations to veteran team Seal Team 3 who won first place!
Way to go! Resident wait staffers the Bar Flies actually won second place with
the aid of the bar patrons, a kind of flying platoon if you will. They will
forfeit their prize though, to third place winners Wossa Matta-U while the
runner up Poonswagglers gets the third place prize after beating out Tequila
Mockingbird in a tie breaker.
