QUIZ RECAP

Our Tuesday night King Trivia Pub Quiz at Killarney's was augmented by chilling temperature s
that were dropping faster than a stripper's drawers at a CES convention! The cavernous
hall at Killarney's could well accommodate three long ships full of Vikings with the only
missing fixture being a roaring fireplace; An accoutrement that would have been entirely
welcome last night. The spirit of the Vikings prevailed though, as seven teams of stalwarts
vied for honors with our first quiz of February!

Tequila Mockingbird's winning streak was broken by Seal Team 3, who struck into the lead in
Round Three with a decisive Double-or-Nothing. TM worried them the rest of the night and
produced a nail biter by tying them up in Round Six, but ST3 prevailed in the end with a
49 point win, shouldering TM into second place. Winner's circle favorites, the Deadly
Alliance (aka Blood, Bath & Beyond - when ya gonna change that name on the roster, youse
guys?!?) placed third, consistently as ever. Wossa Matta-U, the old school, managed the
prizeless but honorable fourth place. The Dallas Booler's Club, joined by their parents,
came in fifth. Our resident wait staff team got in on the fun and out with sixth place
while those wacky theatricals, the Poonswagglers, did themselves a mischief with a badly
misjudged Double-or-Nothing in Round Six, deep sixing themselves into last place.

Quiz Master Lou, having lost his presence of mind, read AL as Alabama instead of the
intended American League, which caused much confusion among the teams and when corrected,
made QM Lou feel like Elvis after forgetting the words to Are You Lonesome Tonight on
stage. Those who eschew video games were knocked out of the ring by our Round Two Picture
Round, Pixilated Pugilists, failing to identify the pictured fighter: However, style points
were earned with fill-ins. (Wolverine got tagged as Horny. Go figure...) And most amusing
of all, to Quiz Master Lou anyway, was that no team got the connection to our Find-the-
Connection Round, (all answers contained a word of Yiddish origin), which prompted Quiz
Master Lou to relate the Kaddish for Uncle Manny episode of Northern Exposure in which Dr.
Joel has a dream about Jewish Cowboys riding hellbent for leather into town and proclaiming,
"Doctor Fleischman, we're your Jews." Which was met with crickets. Oh well, I guess you had
to see it.
