When Rockaneus, God Of Rock Skipping, claimed to misunderstand the rules after the judges disqualified him for skipping his rock off the forehead of Zygomeus, God Of Zygomatic arches, he gave what he thought was a valid explanation. “You didn’t say it had to be off the water!” claimed Rock (to his friends). “Look, I get it,” said Zygo (to his friends), “I have a distractingly large zygomatic arch and it practically screams out to have a rock skipped off it.” For the next ten years, the judges conferred and finally came up with a decision. “After much deliberation we have determined that skipping a rock off a god’s face…IS GOOD!” And at this, the entire crowd chucked rocks at the zygomatic arches of both Rock and Zygo until rocks skipped in every cosmic, star-reaching direction. When the last rock had flown off into the ether and it was silent again, the judges finally spoke out with: “Okay, start over.” Here’s the point: very few trivia nights in bars allow rock skipping. Tonight’s Drinking Round was a Jaws-Off: the best reenactment of a scene from “Jaws” would win free drinks. Post-Pink took it with a rousing rendition of “Show Me The Way To Go Home” that featured me as the damn shark. Free drinks!
