Accept no substitutes! That's what they say! And yet, the good quiz people at Alosta Brewing Co. had no choice but to accept second best when superstar quizmaster Awesome Austin (he's the awesomest!) needed a night off. But you guys were great, and welcomed ol' Tim the Imposter with open minds and open arms.

"You did great!" declared one of the Charming Devils after the game (living up to his team name, for sure). "They usually boo substitute quizmasters, but you didn't get booed once," he said with more than a little surprise.

Sure am glad he waited until after the quiz to tell me that. Booed! Sheesh. I knew Austin was a beloved and revered figure in the quizzing world. But I had no clue just how loved and revered he is. (Deservedly so, absolutely!)

Anyway, I'm delighted that there was no booing, tomato throwing or other forms of disapproval exhibited by this week's cadre of quizinators. Our top three teams - Pale Ale Monorail, Average Joes and Cheers! certainly had nothing to complain about! They ended up with Brew at the Zoo tixs and gift cards for their winning efforts.

Thanks to everyone at Alosta for making me feel so welcome. I appreciate it, and I can assure you that Awesome Austin will be back next week, in all his awesome awesomeness.
