QUIZ RECAP

An intimate and mighty crowd assembled here at Barney’s Beanery tonight. After Round 1 multiple teams were left tied for 5th with every single team scoring - a 1st for this Quiz Master. I think my IQ jumped up a few points just by being around ‘em all.

For our Drinking Round tonight, Mercury Retrograde fried my brain and I forgot what it is we even do for a Drinking Round! No worries though when our players are such smart cookies. To help me out, teams gave me their best suggestions for future drinking rounds they would like to play - most creative answer wins a free pitcher of beer (and the chance to see their suggestion played in a future game)! Team “Um…I Can’t Say This” ending up nabbing the win with a wonderful game suggestion on “who has the most unread emails?”

The last few rounds were WILD! Teams doubling and nothing-ing; dropping in and out of the Top 3 - they were out for blood beer! Ultimately, Team “Lemon It’s Wednesday” pulled ahead from behind to take the win!

A bustling night here tonight at Barney’s, and lots of new teams trying out their Trivia skills for the 1st time! We love our newbies just as much as our regulars <3

For tonight’s drinking round, in response to the recent tsunami warning I decided to test our player’s emergency preparedness with a game of “What’s In My Bag: Disaster Edition”. The team that could bring me the item that would be most useful in an emergency situation, wins!

There were lots of interesting submissions from batteries and water bottles to mushroom pills but in the end “Those People” won a free pitcher of beer with their Leatherman multi-purpose tool. It pays to be prepared!

For a while there, there was a race to overtake 3rd place, but in the end “Those People” won our tie-breaker question and claimed the Bronze.

Team “Type Shyt” were very worthy contenders landing in 2nd place; a solid position for only their second time playing.

However, team “We Have A Korean” pulled ahead early on by utilizing Double Or Nothing and it paid off because they won the whole thing. And what an exciting win for this returning team because it just so happened to be their first time winning!

An intimate and exciting game here tonight at Barney’s!

In a stroke of perfect random luck, “HOT TO GO!” Started playing on the playlist right at the start of the H-O-T-T-O-G-O picture round.

For tonight’s drinking round, in honor of The Odyssey trailer release, I had our players draw me up what they thought the mythical monster Charybdis looked like - closest depiction wins. Lots of fun drawings were submitted. Ultimately, we had a tie between teams “Tea Lizards” and “Those People” who correctly drew a whirlpool dragging down ships. To break the tie, “Those People” were able to quickly & correctly guess the other sea monster associated with Charybdis, that would be Scylla.

In the end, “Mama, He’s Going Home” held tight the whole game, and although it was close they clinched the win!
