QUIZ RECAP

This was a game to remember! We had rivaleries, coalitions, and and doppelgänger names between Pasadena Peeps and Pasadena Pals. There wasn't an empty seat in the house! After an emotional first leg of the trivia and an ABBA themed drinking round, teams began to buckle down to prep for a win (or lose). But finally - Pasadena Pals took the KT victory!

Late start tonight.  Reckoning I've figured out why Barney's moved the start time from 8 to 9pm. The Thursday night football game would conflict. We have had some close calls but tonight the game (no overtime) went to bascially 9pm. Apparently the Bucs barely beat the Cowboys. Tom Brady does it again. Well, the kickers did it, really.  I was worried there would not be places to sit since the patio was THAT packed. It worked out though, with one team even sitting in the front patio past the sidewalk (you cannot drink if you're sitting there though!).

Ok so we started late and we had a huge and lively group from CalTech. The app seems to be something we are all getting more adept at and the show is tightening up, time-wise. There was some back and forth in the first few rounds but the Pasadena Peeps declared their dominance by some key double downs and making their lead insurmountable going into round 7. Purple Monkey Dishwasher took second and Second Cousins took third, with the Peeps also clinching the drinking round. They were the only team to get all five of my questions correct. In honor of California earning its statehood on this date in 1850, I asked the teams to name the state nickname, motto, anthem, bird and flower. Congrats!

A more quiet evening than has been seen here the last few weeks. Still a bit hard to hear at the far end of the patio with that gigantic planter with a tree blocking much sound from yours truly on the PA system. 

We had a good time, with some new teams joining us tonight, Walking Brain Capsules were in the lead for a bit but ended up taking third with You Thought We Smelled Bad on the Outside prevailing with some key double downs and Second Cousins taking second on a close game. Maybe they should change their name to First Cousins? The winners of the night also came through on the drinking round. In honor of Keanu Reeves' birthday on this day (seriously, how can you not love Keanu?), I had them write as many names of characters he has played (off his imdb) in two minutes. You Think We Smelled Bad beat the Second Cousins after a breaking a 7-7 tie.
