And here we thought school was out for summer -- you know what wasn't out? The high-volume, highly-competitive, excitement of Wednesday night King Trivia at Barneys Beanery.

Last week's winners put everyone on notice from the start, but with 9 teams scoring 40 or more, there was no smooth sailing for Yassss Queens, even if they went wire to wire once again, with 77-69 victory over second place regulars Alex Trebec's Children. Oh what a different story we could be telling without the incorrect Guess Who? answer that cost them a point --- that 9 points swing is, as you mathematicians can tell, the difference.

A strong outing from another regular, and some new partners (and team name) Naked Mole Red.

How will they stack up when Quizky Sour, Whiskeypedia, and That's What I'm Tolkein About get back into action? Who knows?

But at 31 teams -- the force is strong at Barney's Beanery on Wednesdays. Come join the fun -- maybe get some free stuff in the process. We're all about swag.

Can you say "Double or Nothing?" Lots of team did tonight in Westwood, but a few at their peril. With first place JR Smith successfully doubling three times and second place Tolkien and third place Chicken Tendy successfully doubling twice, the teams that came in fourth through sixth all missed the top three only because they missed one question when going for a double or nothing. Oh, the twists and turns of King Trivia!

Sometimes a pen. Maybe a quill, maybe a ball point, maybe a foundation, could a pig's home, or a slang term for jail? Sometimes a pen is the difference.

There will be no trivia championship turkey. Quizky Sours didn't join us, but who did were the 2 person wrecking crew, otherwise known as "The Worst People in LA" and their close pursuers, Frat Star Shoe.

Actually, the pen wasn't the difference (both teams turned theirs in). This game was decided in rounds 1, 2, and 5. Where The Worst People weren't the worst at trivia, dropping a double from the get-go, nailing 7 out of 8 pictures, figuring out the connection and finding their way to 9 of 10 in find the connection.

Frat Star Shoe made things interesting, finishing with the maximum 40 out of 40 in the final to rounds, but in the end 75-74 is how things ended.

Claiming the 3rd place $25 prize, Ricky & Morty's own Mr. Poopy Butthole, who knew their rock bands, memory themed question and Henry Ford to propel them just ahead of our usual money spot finishers, who deserve a shout out, bc they were literally Ann & Nancy Wilson versus Mary Wilson & Diana Ross away from this write-up being all about their victory....
