QUIZ RECAP

One Score and Two Teams made it out on a delightful eventide this Wednesday. Frivolity and Fun were flowing along with an astoundingly good selection of beers at Barney's Beanery Westwood.

Seven rounds of Trivia met our hungry quizzers, and they were satiated not by a selection of appetizers and entrees dutifully served by the cadre of waitstaff, chefs, and bartenders, but also with question after question of brain-teasing goodness.

Round 1 was a good warm-up for most teams, but Alex Trebek's children threw down the gauntlet early with a successful double-down. It was picked up by Urban Knows, and Flaccid Phallus, who also doubled their points, but who would reign supreme?

Rounds 2 and 3 saw a jump in confidence as most teams only missed one, or two, but another successful double-down from Alex Trebek's Children and Tequila Mockingbird set a tone of intimidation. Rounds 5 and Six were played a bit more conservatively by all except Prestige, who - counting round 7 - ended the night with 5 unsuccessful double-downs. It could have been close, but the heat brought by the top teams proved to be too much, and LA Pogo, Tequila Mockingbird, and Alex Trebek's Children were the only ones taking home Barney's Giftcards tonight.

We're calling it Scott's Last Stand. As I ride off into the retired host sunset, fitting it should happen with regulars, new teams, a consulting firm, and a packed house of chaos... You know a regular Barney's Beanery Westwood Wednesday night.

Ghandi is a popular figure on the UCLA campus, apparently. So is Avril Lavigne. My old friends, Alex Trebek's Children held onto the lead for most of our night, but they just couldn't keep up with the double or nothing prowess of our night's 3 money winners -- FedEx who went from failing on a 3rd round double attempt, to only missing 2 more questions the entire night, And Then There Were 3 (who only missed 1 question from rounds 4-7), and our winners, the "consulting firm" -- Booze Allen, who came storming down the stretch scoring all 70 possible points in the final 4 rounds.

Music round = success.

Trivia night at Barney's = success.

The future is bright for those young Bruins.
