QUIZ RECAP

A smaller, 12-team crowd for this week's Galentine's Day trivia game, but small doesn't mean lackluster. Plenty of trivia love among the trivia lovers, as always -- and what a blessing to get to witness and share.

In the end, it was Team X-Blades who scored first with a big 74 points! That's a successful Round 2, 3, and 6 double -- and a perfect Round 7 to boot. Next up was Counter Intelligence at 67 points! Their doubles came in Rounds 3 and 5, catching them up to the front quickly. Third went to The Test Tickles at 55 points! They had only two team members this week, but still managed to get that 20-point double in Round 6.

I'd like to thank Brouwerij West and all our faithful trivians for a full calendar year of joyful hosting duties. My first BW show was Valentine's Day 2018. I had never hosted a weekly show and had no idea what to expect, but I quickly realized that something special was going on here, and I was lucky enough to be a part of it.

How did I celebrate, you ask? For one thing, I brought cookies!
For another thing, I gave out my first accidental free answer:
"Who was the wife of Abraham Lincoln?
That's number 5 of Round 5:
Who was the wife of Mary Todd Lincoln?"

The Polar Vortex may not technically be visiting its mighty frigid wrath upon Southern California, but 50s is certainly low for us. Perhaps it was the winter chill that kept our teams to only fifteen in number this week, but we still had quite a game -- even had a tiebreaker for second place!

In the end, it was Here for the Beer who took first with 60 points! They played a steady game and got a big boost from their 20-point double in Round 6. Second went to Counter Intelligence at 58 points after beating Brewsual Suspects in a tough tiebreaker. Counter Intelligence rebounded from not one but two unsuccessful doubles by scoring that 20-point Round 6er. Brewsual Suspects scored a Round 2 double and kept up some good points from there on out. Well done, all teams!

Maybe it was the threat of rain hanging over the next morning, or maybe it was the joy of chicken nachos from the food truck. Whatever it was, trivians were out in droves this week at Brouwerij West, with a cool 24 teams joining in our game. And the scores ranged from round to round -- Round 6 saw two-thirds of the teams attempt a double, while Round 3 saw a three-point average per team. But only one team could beat the odds and take it all!

In the end, it was Brewsual Suspects who jumped to the top of the pedestal with a big 76 points! They leapt ahead with the only successful Round 3 double, then cemented their lead with doubles in Rounds 5 and 6. Next up was Team X-Blades with 66 points! They were doing fairly well throughout the game but really made their move with doubles in Rounds 6 and 7. Third was a tie between Baby It's Cold Outside and Counter Intelligence at 58 points! Both teams scored one 20-point double each, but Baby It's Cold Outside got the closer guess in the "number of days off-earth record" tiebreaker. Well done, all teams!

Seriously, have you tried those chicken fusion nachos? Get you some.
