It was cold and rainy outside tonight, but 6 teams kept warm by gathering around some hot, hot trivia! (some teams even brought some furry friends to share in the fun!)
They were a cautious bunch this week, with only 3 attempts at the Double or Nothing (2 hits, 1 miss), and most teams Guessing What on the penultimate clue, but as they say... well... I'm sure there's some proverb out there about playing it safe that involves a rabbit or a mouse and a ledge or some such...
But like the unnamed rodent above, slow and steady earned Touched By An Uncle 3rd Place. And Honey Smacks were earlier than the bird to snatch the worm of 2nd Place. And Bitchen Knowledge must have been riding a wish horse with a beggar because they were able to leap-frog and take 1st Place by ONE POINT!
There were other teams too, but I've run out of adages to mangle.
Come out to The Canterbury next week where I'll be butchering haikus and limericks!

Sometimes a shared hardship brings people together. Other times it's a mutual interest. A common goal. Or even plain old circumstance.
But there's nary a thing in this world that can unite a room full of people quite like booing at what the previous nine answers all have in common at the end of a Find the Connection Round.
And boo they did last night... like.. a lot, when it was revealed that the connection was that "they all follow or precede the word "star." (after wiping tomato splatter off my face I explained that Z Star is a type of golf ball before realizing at this very moment while typing this that it was more likely the cable channel "Starz" that it's in reference to... I can be a little slow sometimes)
But there wasn't too much room for the teams competing last night to come together, given how narrow the point spread was between the four.
Up through Round 4, the difference between first and last was 3 points. In Round 5 it expanded out to 6 points. But in Round 6, three teams hit the Double or Nothing, leaving Lmao in Fourth Place in spite of a strong showing in Round 7. Booty's Big Birthday came in Third, with only a 6 point difference from First Place. Newcomers Scrumptious Bitch Boys had a strong Round 7, but they only 1 point from tying Canterbury regulars, Honey Smacks, who took First Place!
See you next Tuesday! (but please leave your tomatoes at home)
My oh my did we have a lot of teams this week!
After the final crunching of numbers there were 8 teams, 20 players, and 1 ADORABLE pooch named Margaret Hooper.
Most of the teams kept within 5 points of each other, but Starship Enchilada took an early lead with successful Double or Nothings in Rounds 1 and 2 and maintained their lead throughout the evening and finished strong with another Double or Nothing in Round 7, earning them 77 points and the first place prize!
As impressive as that was, Tequila Mockingbird was missing half their players this week leaving them with a grand total of one person on that team! It's even more impressive that the one man powerhouse managed to give Starship Enchilada a real run for their money and ended the night only three points behind for 2nd Place!
Honey Smacks, who was also missing a number of there players also remained competitive and captured 3rd, being within 5 points! (There must have been some sort of schism because the missing members of the team went off to form the Honey Smacks Rejects... I'm guessing there was an ugly disagreement about whether or not a hot dog is a sandwich)
The remaining five teams were keeping it close all night and it made for an exciting night for trivia! More of that for next week, please!
