About Gramercy Santa Monica

Inspired by New York in the heart of Santa Monica, Gramercy is a neighborhood bar and gathering place created by Travis Clemens Santos and Troy Donnell who are no strangers to the LA bar scene.  Clemens Santos and Donnell are also owners of The Belmont, Bruhaus, and The West End Santa Monica.

Designed by Derek Kistner of  Ink and Wood; each fixture inside Gramercy was made from scratch with an appreciation for the bricks, and wood fixture often found in the Flatiron district of New York.  The bar features custom oak wood touches of wrought iron, leather, and natural light features.

Full bar menu featuring cocktails, wine and beer.  Brunch/lunch is served daily until 3 pm and Dinner served daily until 11 pm.

It was a lightly attended but still exciting night at the Gramercy. Squirrel Girl Squirts Okrrrrr jumped out to an early lead with a double-or-nothing round 1 and the highest score on a tough picture round... Gandhi's Quit India speech? More like quit scoring points! However, after a lost point in the Guess Who round, Tavo 2nd Language crawled their way into contention and were tied with Squirrel Girl going into the 3x3x3 final round. Tavo's White House and Full House knowledge slightly pipped that of the Squirrels, and they won the $30 1st prize. A late arriving pair called Trivia Tits busted out a third place finish.

There are many philosophical questions that baffle mankind. If a tree fall in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? What happens when the bar staff wins at trivia? Well, one of those questions was answered last night. Turns out, they give the prize to the other teams! That's reason enough to check out Gramercy as even if you don't get first, you might get first prize.

The GABRIELLAS took the crown and humbly gave their prize to our second place team NY GIANTS. Brining up the rear were a group of happy Fins from Finland on CALIFORNIA DREAMING, who still got 19 points with a limited knowledge of English! Or as they say in Finland, Vatsani sattuu syomasta liikaa poroa!

I hope last night was a sign of things to come as people hear about trivia night at Gramercy. This great spot has food, drinks, and most importantly, me hosting trivia! After a sadly cancelled game the week before, we had 5 teams show up ready to battle for those gift certificates. POOP refused to be number 2 and took the top spot, winning $30 for their next time at Gramercy. The party bus that was LEEEYAWN took second but they were more than happy to walk away with $15. GRAM420 took 3rd...but they didn't get that free round for 3rd place since they work there!

Hope to have you join us next week, Wednesday at 9 pm, so we can build Gramercy up to the trivia capital of Santa Monica!
