About Indie Brewing Company

We set out to give L.A. amazing local beer, and the tasting room it so deserves. We dreamt of a casual spot where people could hang out with other beer lovers and watch bands, talk about sports, and maybe even do a little trivia night. No velvet ropes, no guest lists. Our idea of “bottle service”? Having your growler refilled by the guys who brewed the beer.

And who are we? We’re 4 guys who met in the strangest of ways over our mutual love of brewing. This love began in 2009 with homebrews in pots on an electric stovetop. The operation grew with time, and eventually, we were using every free minute we had to make beer. We left our “normal” jobs in geology, advertising and law to spend as much time as possible creating pale ales, saisons, porters and more. We want to put L.A. on the map for something other than movie stars and one-word nightclubs. It’s our mission to take L.A.-based craft beers to new heights.

But enough about us – let’s talk about you. Whether you’re a USC or a UCLA fan, an electrician or an actor, you need delicious, local craft beers made by guys you can actually talk to. You need a welcoming spot to hang out with your friends and the rest of L.A.’s beer-loving community.

Another Trivia Night at Indie Brewing Company, and this time Mercury Retrograde has finally ended, putting yours truly at ease. While the score may not show it clearly, this game was a close race.

The General Knowledge Round 1 managed to trip everyone up with a question about Rhapsody in Blue, and even after the picture round of famous Olivias every team was within 5 points of each other. Truly anyone's game!

But the stakes rose in the Half Themed Round 3 when the Quid Pro Bros, Fatiass, and Paddington Kills all successfully doubled their points for the round putting their scores in the 20s.

The Guess Where Round 4 saw the Quid Pro Bros tie Fatiass with 26 points and Paddington Kills move into first place with 31 points, but it was still too early to count out Houkago Trivia Time who (along with the Quid Pro Bros) successfully doubled their Round 5 Card Game themed points to move into first place (46, Quid) and third (39, Houkago) with Paddington Kills in second with 41.

But wait, there's more! While Fatiass did not succeed in the double aspect of Double or Nothing in Round 5, they were successful in their International Sauce knowledge and, along with Paddington Kills, doubled their Round 6 scores, putting Paddington in first with 61 points, and Fatiass only two points out of the top 3.

But no team was able to successfully name all 10 of the most densely populated states for the final Round 7, so while the Quid Pro Bros came in closet with 9 out of 10 possible points, it wasn't quite enough to usurp Paddington Kills who finished with an impressive 70 points, scoring 8 points in the final round (along with Houkago Trivia time, who finished third).

Fatiass still managed 50 points, an impressive considering they had back-to-back scoreless rounds, and Prestige Worldwide wasn't too far behind with 24 (one measly wrong answer keeping them from successfully doubling in Round 5). But Fatiass did manage to win the Bonus Round by coming in closest with their guess for what the most recent year (prior to 2019) Mercury transited the Sun, so they're still champs.

Looking forward to seeing you next week!

Another fun night of King Trivia at Indie Brewing Company! This week saw some tough competition and strong back and forth between the teams that ultimately settled into the top 3 positions.

Count(ess) Bellator and Paddington Kills started tied for lead getting 7 points each in the opening general knowledge round, but Fatiass stayed close behind and all three teams were able to successfully double their points on the Netflix themed picture round and add 16 points to their scores, going into the third round with over 20 points each.

The scored started to spread out a bit after the video game Themed Round (3) where Paddington Kills successfully doubled again moving to 35 points, and Countess Bellator fell behind by not doubling on their perfect answer sheet.

The Find the Connection Round (5) led Countess Bellator astray as they ended with no points for the round after attempting a double and getting one measly answer wrong, paving the way for an even stronger lead for Paddington Kills, with 48 points.

The movie themed Matching Round (6) saw Fatiass and Countess Bellator successfully double their points and move into the lead spots, but playing consistent and getting two rounds of perfect answers enabled Paddington Kills to stayed tied for second with Countess Bellator.

The final round was anyone's game, but Fatiass' sports knowledge helped them stay in the lead with a final score of 70 points. Countess Bellator came in second (65 points), and Paddington Kills came in a close third (63).

While Lucky 7 and Prestige Worldwide (two smaller and less experienced teams) didn't challenge the power house regular teams this time, they did stay in close competition with each other, both averaging around 4 points a round and ending with 28 and 24 points (respectively). Super impressive for teams of only about two people each!

Join us next week for another exciting game!

It was a rockin' first night for me at Indie Brewing Company. Not only did the sounds of My Chemical Romance (welcome back) fill the bar, everyone was incredibly welcoming.

From the get go, Count(ess) Bellator came in hot, getting a perfect double or nothing on the first round and starting with six points more than any other team! Yet the competition for second and third place stayed strong, and all four teams hit their stride with at least one killer round. Fatiass managed to remain in second place the whole game and win some free salsa in the bonus round by coming closest with their guess for what year nachos were invented. (Happy National Nacho Day, everyone)

As we made our way to round six, Houkago Trivia Time managed to tie Fatiass for second place with their surprisingly great knowledge of exact term lengths of US presidents. But it was Fatiass that surprised us all by successfully doubling on the last round and correctly naming 10 of U2's 14 studio albums, putting them one measly point behind Countess Bellator. (RIP to The Best Dudez who doubled but got one album name incorrect. It was a valiant attempt)

Countess Bellator was able to hang on for the win, but special commendation must be given to Houkago Trivia Time for accepting defeat and filling in their U2 albums with best guesses such as "U2 Live 2 Furious" and "Bono and Friends." (They didn't get a single point in the last round).

It was a great night, and I hope to see you all back next week!
