How well do you know actors-turned-singers, final girls in horror movies, and George Lopez? If the answer is "extremely well," you should have been at King Trivia at Shadow Grove Brewing last night, where nine teams faced off on their knowledge of all these topics (and more) over seven rounds of trivia! Shadow Grove is decked out for spooky season and the vibes were immaculate for some high-stakes trivia for a chance to win discount coupons for $5 a brew. Teams trailed one another by one or two points throughout the night, and it seemed almost inevitable that the game would head into a tiebreaker...but anything can happen in the final round, which was proven last night when LETITSNOW risked their comfortable first-place lead to Double or Nothing...only to get one answer wrong, toppling them off the leaderboard. At 38 points, DunKen took home third place and two beer coupons, while at 39 points, team Pumpkin Dwellers grabbed second place and a beer coupon for each member of their team! And while Cosmic Gumbo held steady in the middle of the pack all night, a successful Double Or Nothing in the final round sent them surging into first place at 48 points and the first place prize of five beer coupons! Here's a trivia question for ya: what activity perfectly pairs with watching the Dodgers beat the Mets in the playoffs? Easy: it's playing King Trivia at Shadow Grove Brewing! Our teams kept the good vibes going over seven rounds of trivia that tested their knowledge across a diverse range of topics, from video game protagonists, elements of the Milky Way, movie tributes in music videos, and more! The competition for third place was fierce as Pathetic Losers and Legion of Doom went head-to-head in a tiebreaker round to determine who'd go home with two beer coupons worth $5 a brew at Shadow Grove, and with a guess only off by nine percentage points, Legion of Doom closely guessed the amount of aluminum in the Earth's crust and grabbed the third place spot! Meanwhile, The Antics balanced their shenanigans with smarts to land in second place, winning three beer coupons. But despite not living up to their namesake, Last Place reigned surpreme with a first place victory at a whopping 80 points, succesfully hitting Double Or Nothing three times during the night to clinch the crown and five beer coupons for a total of $25 off beer! If you knew your Kevins, periodic table elements, and celebrity godparents, then King Trivia at Shadow Grove Brewing in the San Fernando Valley was the place to be on Thursday night! Eleven teams went head-to-head for bragging rights, glory, and beer coupons, testing their knowledge on all that and more over seven rounds of trivia. Regulars went up against formidable newcomers for a night of friendly competition that culminated in a third place victory for the one-man team Cosmic Gumbo, who went home with a discounted bar tab thanks to the two beer coupons he won! Heading into the final round, it seemed like Contributing Members of Society was ready to win it all, but team RNA shocked us all with a risky Double or Nothing bet that paid off big: an impressive 20-point surge rocketed RNA to first place with 60 points vs. Contributng Members' 55-point total, scoring the top prize of five beer coupons worth $5 off a tasty brew at Shadow Grove. Despite the upset, Contributing Members of Society nabbed a second place win and three coupons--one for each member of their team!
