QUIZ RECAP

After being unable to host last week due to health reasons, I, humble Quizmaster Michael Miller, was thrilled to be back in front of my people to ask questions and drink drinks!  Immediately after I arrived, teams gave me the rundown on what happened in my absence; I was quite interested to hear that The Mules were coming into the night on the back of a four game win streak...

While no teams were confident enough to go for the double in Round 1, the bulk of the players proclaimed "Gloria!" upon their successful attempts at same in the picture round containing famous Catholics.  In Round 3, the nautical theme and the various sea shanties played by yours truly gave rise to more than one lively jig.  The crowd was then thrilled when I deigned to explain to them exactly what makes a sloop a sloop, and how it differs from say a ketch or a yawl.  Thrilled, I say!

Following the Who Am I? Round, in which many of us expressed a desire to become romantically entangled with Dame Helen Mirren (the answer to the round, and perhaps to loneliness as well), a very familiar seeming Find the Connection round was played.  Despite a uniform recognition of the connection itself, confidence concerning Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs vs. The Kingsmen prevented teams from doubling down into royalty.

The real treat of the night (for everybody) was the Drinking Round, which was specially created by a member of the Aggressive Visitors in honor of her birthday.  Laura, in all her self-deprecating bravery, crafted a musical identification round where we played clips of the 11 worst songs that she has paid for.  From the amusing PSA "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" to the (sadly) unforgettable "PopoZão" by Mr. Kevin Federline, our ears were given an endurance test.  All survived, and See You Next Tuesdays won handily.

Scores remained slightly lower than average during the final handout round, and in the end The Mules were no match for the victorious birthday celebrant team of arch allies that is the Aggressive Visitors.

I hate to be sick, but I so very much love when I return the following week.  The fun that everybody has, and me with them, reminds me why I do what I do!  Well that and the free drinks, of course.

This game was a doozy.  Perennial favorites attempted to double down again and again and were met by failure each time.  But in the end, The Mules triumphed for their third successive week.  There was no rioting, but some looting did occur.
