About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

It's pretty impressive when a brand new team who "has never tried bar trivia before" comes in, gets into competition mode, sweeps away all competition and wins the game with a robust 79 points. And that is exactly what Bobanson (photot #7 above) did this week at The Famous on Brand in Glendale. Well done, guys!

In addition to our usual mirth and merriment, we enjoyed having TV and film actor Kyle Bornheimer join in the competitive fervor. He and a buddy (photo 6) racked up a solid 48 points playing as The Carl Hornbauers despite the constant distraction of having to fend off a number of swooning women (and a few men)!

Kyle is a good, solid, ethical guy. How do I know? Well, I can tell you he was NOT tempted by an offer to trade correct answers or "bonus points" in exchange for a small part in his next project! I gotta say, Kyle had no problem rejecting that offer, which is why we're reporting that he scored 48 points, instead of the 58 he actually earned!

Okay, I made that last part up. But you never know who you might meet at a King Trivia Pub Quiz. I'll always remember the night Jennifer Aniston unexpectedly showed up at one of my shows. Jen was great, and we really hit it off. She even gave me her phone number. But I somehow misplaced it in a stack of used answer sheets and can't find it anywhere. Just my luck!

Okay, I made that last part up, too. (It was actually Stevie Nicks!) But we do have us some good fun at our weekly trivia show. Come see for yourself next week. You really wanna be there, because we've heard that J-Lo and A-Rod are planning to play! (Okay, I made that part up, too! J-Lo's not coming. It's really Nicki Minaj! But don't tell anyone. It's a secret, and also fake news!)

See ya next week.

It was quite a night of trivia excitement this week at The Famous in Glendale. Formidable competitors Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink demonstrated that even the best quizzers can have an off night, which paved the way for The Paddingtons to bear claw their way to the top of the scoresheet! Congratulations, you adorable stuffed animals.

But the real suspense took place just one notch down, as frequent winners The Blanches finished regulation play in a tie with The Golden Ghouls. And with Halloween just right around the corner, it is perhaps appropriate that those Ghouls had things go their wicked way in the tiebreaker.

And, like a bridesmaid in a bad dress, our friends It's Pronounced "GIF" played well and really gave it a good effort, but ended up in 4th place! Knowing them, that "almost, but not quite" finish will just inspire 'em to try harder next time!

And next time will arrive in less than a week! In the meantime, we all know that King Trivia offers the hottest games in town, right!? And there's a new kid on the block! We recently launched an entirely new game called Survey Slam that is already attracting lots of enthusiastic attention.

You might wanna should check it out, because you KNOW that King Trivia is definitely the leading source of live pub entertainment anywhere, right? RIGHT! See ya next week - OR AT THE SLAM!!
