About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

It was a good night for Mitch McGonagall this week at The Famous on Brand in Glendale. MM squeaked out a one-point win over Let's Get Quizzical, who took the news with class - groaning and laughing and bemoaning the missed opportunities that would have provided another point or two.

This week's session of King Trivia had it all: heartache and euphoria, pathos and Athos and Aramis. No, wait! There were no Musketeers. There were no Disney Dwarfs or Laker girls. But there were dozens of the finest quizinators you'll find anywhere, battling once again for trivia glory!

And we'll do it all again next week. Will Mitch McGonagall return to defend their title? Or will Slytherin slither in? Will The Bad News Barristers once again shine in the winner's circle? Or will Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink demonstrate that they drink, and they know things? Only time - and Tim - will tell. Next week. Join us, won't you?

Wow! A session of King Trivia is always competitive. But this week's quiz at The Famous on Brand in Glendale really took it to a whole new level. The lead changed hands after every round, and when the dust settled and the final answer sheets were scored, the top five teams had scores of 67-68-69-70 and 71!!

The formidable foursome of You're a Quizard, Harry took the win, with an ever-so-slim one-point edge over Quiz Me Like One of Your French Girls, who took second by a single point over To Infinity and Beyonce.

They didn't get any points for it, but I'm definitely adding Quiz Me Like One of Your French Girls to the quizmaster's list of odd, unexpected, outstanding and inventive team names. I mean, sheesh! We LOVE obscure film references, and this one was Titanic-ally good. So you're on the list, you clever Girls, and you deserve it.

Ya gotta hand it to the guys from Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink. I mean, we knew they were good, but we didn't knw they were this good. Seven rounds of perfection, doubling each and every step along the way, to rack up a perfect 110 points! I mean, SHEESH!

We shouldn't really be surprised. A frequent participant in our Tournament of Champions, they finished in the top ten at the 9th TOC earlier this year, and they've already begun their march to TOC 10! What a performance, fellas! Well done.

We were also pretty impressed with The Blanches, who were undaunted by BJWLUD's performance and registered a solid 80 points of their own to take second! Well done, ladies!

A pair of solid teams tied for third place, with Supper Puppies taking the win over Let's Get Quizzical with a tiebreaker success, and just in case you're wondering (as I did) if the Supper Puppies actually meant SUPER, and inadvertently added an extra "P," uhm...I asked, and no. Not an accident. Puppies - it's what's for dinner!
