About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

In what may well have been a final tune up before the big $10,000 Tournament of Champions coming up next week (spectator tickets here), perennial King Trivia powerhouse Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink (photo #1) ran roughshod over the competition at The Famous on Brand in Glendale this week, winning the night with an almost unheard of 95 points!

Still, Tequila Mockingbird and Bad News Barristers (both formidable teams in their own right) didn't make it easy for the Jeopardy crew, logging scores of 84 and 78 points respectively - which would have been good enough for top honors on most nights.

It was a very big night indeed this week at The Famous on Brand in Glendale, where no fewer than 18 teams of enthusiastic quizzers gathered to engage in cerebral competition.

The crowd was divided pretty evenly between tough, determined (some might even say "grizzled), experienced quizzers, and an enthusiastic and equally focused contingent on newcomers who were only too willing to take on the KT veterans.

And when the dust settled and the final answer sheet submitted, it was the novice team of Snapes on a Plane who took the victory, with a one-point edge over the more experienced and capable Caribbean Heat! Phew! Exciting!

State of the Onion took third, but we can't give them their gift certificate because they've been postponed because of the government shutdown. No, wait. that's the State of the Union. Not onion! Easy to confuse 'em, as they both have a distinctive odor, right? At least this year.

Congratulations to all our hearty competitors. It was exhilarating. Let's do it again next week!

After nearly a week of relentless wetness, the rain ended, the clouds parted, and a great group of quizzers gathered at The Famous in Glendale for a night of warm friendships and cold competition.

When the dust settled, that formidable trio of Bad News Barristers (Photo #8) found themselves atop the leaderboard with a winning score of 78. Let's Get Quizzical had what it takes to finish in second with a respectable 61, and frequent top-three finishers Yer a Quizzard, Harry were once again in the winner's circle with 57.
