About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

Today, I'd like to pay tribute to some of my favorite teams. No, not the Bad Barristers, Jeopardy Drinkers or Electric Moustachers who top our leader board so often. Yes, I admire and respect these overachievers, to be sure. But today...today I want to give attention to the other end of the scoreboard.

Today, we honor the teams that come on out, engage in friendly trivia mayhem, and emerge from the throng at the bottom of the pack, having given it their best, and fallen just a little eency weency bit short of victory, but who'll nonetheless stand to fight another day!

I'm talking about you, Wonder Women! And you, La Care Armos. And, of course, you, High Class Cats, Nerds and Invaders of Privacy! Your lights shine brightly even in defeat, and I salute your forthright determination to fight the good fight, and face defeat with dignity and honor!

Thank you for your contributions, your classy demeanor, and your amazing positive attitude! Better luck next week!!

Richie! I know you're reading this, man. Don't feel bad. There's not shame in coming in second. (Third place, yeah! That's embarrassing. But second? No...you're good)

It's just...those Jeopardy peeps. Man! They're tough to beat! I overheard you and Michael talking about how you were gonna send Devin over to "Tonya Harding their asses!"

Now, there are two things wrong with that plan. Thing one is, Tonya Harding didn't actually do anything to anyone. Didn't you see that movie!? It was all the whackadoo "bodyguard."

And second, Devin!? Really!? You think Devin's got what it takes to be a hitman!? Or hit-woman!? I mean, COME ON!! She's a cupcake, man! She's the type of person who uses a piece of paper to pick up a spider and take it outside. Use Michael. He's expendable!!

Okay. Let's just keep this between us, alright?

What do you do when most of your team can't make it to the quiz? You join forces with another team who is similarly short-handed! And thus it was that a couple of regulars from 2nd Nook on The Left joined forces with Bad News Barristers this week at The Famous to do trivia battle as 2nd Nook Barristers. Or Bad News on the Left.  

Either way, they won, and won big, with a robust score of 92. The always formidable Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink came in second with a very strong score of 84. And The Barrelers rounded out our top three with a score of 78.
