QUIZ RECAP

First off, Danielle opted to celebrate her birthday with friends, pizza and trivia this week at The Pizza Press in NoHo. That's Danielle on the right in photo #1 above, and the guys are in photo #2. Aren't they cute in their pointy little hats!? YES! They even had a pointy hat for your humble quizmaster. It fit  perfectly over the pointy little bump on my head!

We had a particularly competitive group at the Press this time around, with final scores all within one successful double-or-nothing of the win. In fact, our top three teams - Better Late, Then Never, La Maida Crew and Our Couch Pulls Out, But We Don't - were separated by just 6 points! Excellent!!

The word is beginning to get out about King Trivia at The Pizza Press. We're making friends fast and the number of empty chairs is dwindling. Still, if you're looking for a (slightly) smaller, less intimidating environment to try your hand at our weekly trivia quiz, there's still room for you to join us.

Pizza Press is one of our newest locations, and word is beginning to spread about their great food, friendly players and awesome environment. It's still a somewhat quieter, more subdued version of our weekly quiz - but that may be starting to change.

So check out this great new King Trivia venue. Pizza Press in North Hollywood might be just what you're looking for! You'll be getting in on the ground floor! And if it's your birthday, maybe...just maybe, we'll give you one extra point if ya celebrate it with us! (Or maybe not. We're capricious that way. You'll improve your chances if you bring the quizmaster a pointy hat.)

QUIZ RECAP

As is often the case, it was all about the strategic use of the double-or-nothing option that determined our winners this week at Pizza Press in NoHo.

Our winning team, Hi!, jumped out to an early lead with successful doubles in the first two rounds. But our 2nd place finishers, 10 Points to Gryffindor! (that's one of 'em looking forlorn in photo #1) could have been the winners last night if they had opted to double in the 5th, 6th or 7th rounds.

That's right! They answered all questions correctly in the final three rounds, but didn't go for the double, thereby surrendering up to 30 points!! Ouch! Forlorn, indeed. (Check out photo #6 for a visual illustration of what beauty+regret looks like!)

On a happier note, Fam Squad (photos 3 & 4 above) executed an excellent come-from-behind double in the final round to score 20 points and take 3rd place by one point over The Cider House Rules. (Photos 2 and 9 above).

Finally, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Whatchutawkinaboutwillis - two of the nicest people you'd ever wanna meet - who played with spirit and enthusiasm, and gave us a pair of winning smiles in photo #7 above.

And that's what we're doing at our newest King Trivia location: Pizza Press in NoHo - turning strangers into friends!

Have you noticed the growth and excitement that has blossomed within the NoHo section of the Valley? (NoHo is generally defined as the North Hollywood area around Lankershim Blvd. and Magnolia, near the burgeoning Red Line subway station!

Somebody pushed a secret button and transformed NoHo into the coolest area of the SFV, with luxury apartments, cool clubs and excellent restaurants popping up all over the place! In the midst of all this excitement, Pizza Press is making friends and creating custom gourmet pizzas right in the heart of NoHo, and hosting  King Trivia quizzes every Wednesday night.

The team calling itself Peaches finished in the cream last night, but it could just as easily be YOU next week. So come on in and say hi! We're just waiting to meet you!
