Consider us your neighborhood pizza parlor with a gourmet twist. We visited some of the greatest pizzerias on the West Coast, took the best parts of each, and brought them to Visalia as best we could. Then we added our own Central Valley twist. The end result is our menu of  hearty, flavorful pizzas made with the freshest ingredients, locally sourced whenever possible. From the adventurous “Thai Pie” to the customer favorite “Kitchen Sink”, there’s truly something for all types of pizza lovers. We rounded out our menu with a variety of signature sandwiches, farm fresh salads, and delicious appetizers like our bruschetta and artichoke fritters.

Then there’s the beer. Twenty-one taps of fresh craft beer and cider plus a massive variety of cans and bottles.

At The Planing Mill, we are committed to providing great food and guest service in a comfortable, family friendly atmosphere. We are also dedicated to serving our community through our monthly “Pizza with a Purpose” non-profit fundraisers and other efforts.

Come see our spacious new location, complete with outdoor patio and lawn area. We think you’ll find The Planing Mill to be a pretty fun place to eat, drink and be merry with friends and family!

But don’t just take our word for it. In 2017, the Visalia Chamber of Commerce named us Small Business of the Year!

WHAT’S IN A NAME?

A lot of people see our name and spend the next few seconds trying to say it. Let us help. It’s pronounced “PLAIN-ing” Mill, though there’s certainly nothing “plain” about us!

So why the name? Our first location was part of the original Visalia Planing Mill. Founded in 1851, the mill crafted specialty wood products for generations of Visalians. In fact, many older homes and businesses in town have doors and cabinets that were hand-crafted right here on our property. In honor of this legacy, and as a reflection of our commitment to artisanship, the name fit perfectly.

High scores abounded tonight at the Planing Mill! Michael Scott's Paper Company set the early pace, staying a point ahead of a logjam for second place during the early rounds. But Quizzical Therapists turned it on after the break with a successful double in Round 5 and high scores the rest of the way, taking home a hotly contested victory. Palpation Nation and Burt Reynolds's Ghost also picked up doubles late to place and show!

Guess Who's Back, Back again?

Anthony Jalapeno was back for one more night, filling in for Brian the Magnificent. It was a big night for Trivia with 11 teams competing for the Plaining Mill's gift cards.

After a few successful doubles in round #3 and #5, Burt Reynolds Ghost took the lead and ended in 1st Place. Little Lebowski's Urban Achievers trailed the leaders most of the game until Round #7. The Urban Achievers used some H2SO4 to burn through the competition and successfully doubled to take 2nd Place. Palpation Nation ended their run in 3rd Place.

It was fun hosting Trivia at the Planning Mill, and I hope the teams enjoyed having me on the Mic.

It was the first night your guest host Anthony Jalepeno filled in for Brian the Magnificent and The Geek on (pause for a Dab) Fleek Devin. But Senior Jalepeno is definitely no stranger to the teams at The Planning Mill. I was welcomed by my peers/ rivals as I hosted last nights event.

Round #1 was played very conservative, but not Round #2 as 3's Company went for a successful double to take the lead. 3's Company only held the lead until Burt Reynolds Ghost scored a successful double in Round #3 and Round #6 to take home 1st Place and the $30 Gift Card. 3's Company was right behind them in 2nd Place and got the $20 Gift Card. You're a Quizzard Harry got a successful double in Round #6 which gave them 3rd Place and the $10 Gift Card.

Venue audio issues aside, I gave teams the opportunity to come up for question clarification or I read the question several times and fun was had by all.
