A low-key but competitive night at Vino by the Sea! Our three teams went head to head, with our top two being neck and neck for the majority of the game. Our connection round ended up being the deciding factor, with our winning team getting two points ahead, securing their winning spot for tonight's game. See everyone next week at Vino by the Sea!
Three teams approached the best wine bar in Santa Cruz on the evening of February 27th for yet another Sunday night filled with laughter and beer! One team decided to break up into smaller groups to test their knowledge against each other in a friendly competition. That one team became a team of 2 who christened themselves Grêla and a second solo team artfully named Ding Dong. Our third team of the night was also a solo player who came ready to play in spite of his usual teammates’ absence. He carried his weight, playing old school with pen and paper and decidedly naming himself Putinsucks. All eyes in the bar turned in jealousy as we began the fourth ever King Trivia game at Vino by the Sea! Sweating under the pressure of knowing all the pop culture that round 1’s general knowledge entailed, Putinsucks came in last place in the first round, but quickly demonstrated his prowess and historical knowledge in the picture round’s challenge to name which youthful president was pictured. About halfway through, the bar staff came to witness the competition and play for kicks, supporting our solo teams with their kind banter. When it came down to it, solo player Ding Dong was left in last place in the shadow of the lady team Grêla who took home a $20 gift card to our lovely hosting venue Vino by the Sea. That left our other solo player Putinsucks with an impressive score of 44 points granting him the grand prize of a $30 gift card all to himself. Until next week!
Another Sunday evening at Vino By the Sea and all couches were packed with party-goers, couples, and teams ready for another game of King Trivia. We rounded up a solid four teams to participate, including a group of three seasoned players, Festa Fanatics, a larger all female group who named themselves Fish Fry, a discreet newly engaged couple known as Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and lastly a rowdy group known as Marbles. Festa Fanatics held their own and maintained the lead throughout the game, with Marbles trailing close by in their shadow. The find the connection round proved to be the turning point where the true trivia advocates could shine. Bets were placed among the female and the raucous male groups as to who would win. Stakes were high and energy was flowing as each team looked to their teammates with eager eyes. The competition was palpable. At the end of the night holding last place, yet going home with the reward of their love for each other, was Mr. and Mrs. Smith, closely followed by the lady team of Fish Fry who were the happy winners of a $20 gift certificate to Vino by the Sea. Team marbles won a $30 gift card, and $5 amongst themselves for winning their private bet! Seasoned trivia team Festa Fanatics took the $40 prize and graciously gifted it to Mr. and Mrs. Smith. What a game! Congrats to the new couple and I have a feeling we are going to be seeing Festa Fanatics next Sunday, ready for another fantastic evening at Vino by the Sea.
