On the eve of Valentine’s Day, all football fans and wine lovers, cozied comfortably in the assortment of couches and lounge chairs at Vino by the Sea, had their eyes glued to the flat screen TV. Discouraged that trivia was going to be overshadowed by the most watched program of the year showcasing a bunch of men in tights and a performance by Snoop Dog, I sat at the bar, awaiting more folks with that special trivia twinkle in their eyes. At around 6pm, all hope lost as groups cheered or cried over the teams at play, two teams walked through the doors at sunset, like a scene from a cowboy movie, and vaguely reminiscent of the larger nationwide game at play; in my eyes at least. The game was on! We began with teams Big Dre Dre and Brazilianbucks as they went head to head. It was clear from the beginning that the all female team, Brazilianbucks, was holding its own and maintained a winning standing throughout all 7 rounds, going home with a $20 gift certificate to Vino by the Sea. I’m not sure if we’ll see these two teams again, but they sure put up a fight against the urge to watch the Superbowl! Grateful for them and for the venue, who so graciously accommodated us at King Trivia, I can’t wait for next Sunday!

QUIZ RECAP
On February 7th, Vino by the Sea was christened by its first ever King Trivia show. As the sun set over the water and shined in through the windows three teams were formed. Commencing at 5pm, armed with full glasses of wine and registered for the game, teams Michelle, Jon Grace and Owe yay, and Edwardloverz went head to head. Answers were shouted by the bar staff, against rule number two of three, and groans were heard as the teams pulled through each round neck in neck. Double or nothing drowned Jon Grace and Owe yay in the first round, but they quickly caught up in the picture round; obviously Bill Murray movie connoisseurs in their free time. Once it got dark, things got serious. Team Edwardloverz were biting their nails, three glasses deep, eyeing their opposing team Jon Grace and Owe yay as the three struggled to find the answers. Michelle, confident in their answers, remained in the lead, but all bets were off in the list round, for the final chance to change the score. Suspense hanging in the room, a drum roll was called for as the final standings were announced. In third place and the glad winners of a $24 gift certificate to Vino by the Sea, was team Edwardloverz. Reigning in second was surprisingly, Michelle, who had held the lead the entire game up until the last round, who still went home with a $30 certificate. Finally, the happy team, who I have no doubt we will see next week wielding their $50 gift certificate to another evening full of red and white wine and sunset trivia was Jon Grace and Owe yay!
