QUIZ RECAP

We had quite the night at Barney's with a packed house! Trivia is for everyone, and everyone wanted to play, the debut round was a nice ease into the groove, and by round 3, teams were really getting Down to it. With double downs and flying like rockets into the sky, but some crashing down in a fiery flaming wreckage. This devastation did not deter our stalwart quizzes from reaching for glory- even when it seemed clear all hope was lost. For some, a few zeroes from opponents was just what they needed to get the edge and the ladder, shaken in the final rounds, brought glee to the triumphant.

The rain was pouring, but so was the beer at Barney's Beanery in Westwood. 20 teams turned out for a night of ups, downs, and side to sides. The points were swinging like a batter just aching for spring training.

The first round popped off with only a little to-do, with most teams conservative with a few head-scratchers, but a few attempting and succeeding doubles. The second round saw our first goose-eggs, but still a few doubles. Mostly, though, teams held around the center of the spread and stayed there until the find the connection round, where a texas-sized helping of points had a bit of flavour to add to the scoreboard and shake things up. Teams awed the quizmaster and scorekeeper with their knowledge of Olympian gold winners, as Eleven Teams scored double, and the rest had near-perfect answer rates. Cocky with confidence, however the final round proved fatal for some as the leaders fell to goose-eggs, Launching their close competitors to the top of the heap at the very end.

Our biggest night of the year, so far! Not that there's been much competition in two weeks. The night was silent, for a bit due to some gremlins in the sound system, but Quizmasters, and Quiztakers alike, rallied for a delightful romp of as many rounds as we could get to. The first was a nice warm up, but the second round saw a cadre of high scores as the contestants flexed their knowledge of the cartoon character food pyramid. the penultimate round saw enough zeroes to shake a few boots, but staying to the end with an astounding amount of double-downs shook up the game, leaving anyone's guess for who would take the podium. A good time was had by all, with a special thank you going out to the Servers who kept the masses well-plied with sustenance.
