It was great to be back hosting! Network Brewery was an awesome place with a great selection of beer. Expletive Deleted is a pineapple blonde that was very delicious, highly recommended! I'm assuming everyone was still voting (which would be a good thing) because we had a small friendly competition between the staff team and the regulars. It came down to the end, but Our Drinking Team Has A Trivia Problem went home the winners!

'Twas the night before Halloween
And all through the Brewery,
There were plenty of open seats
As teams there were few...ery.
Due to what I'm assuming were either Halloween hijinks or mourning over the Dodger's close-but-still-so-far World Series title (or some combination of the two), the night was dead at Network. Which was apt since most of the clues were Halloween-themed...and as we discovered, very difficult! See for yourself in the point totals; this may be the lowest-scoring game I've ever seen! But don't despair, faithful readers, the night was still fun with a lot of great banter back and forth between teams.
After drafting Shark Bite into the mix by telling them they'd be in the Top 3 no matter what, the race was off! After confusing Quentin Tarantino for Eli Roth, both My Grandma Doesn't Wrestle But You Should See Her Box and Shark Bite fell behind Team Venture and they kept a very comfortable lead through the rest of the night. All the teams stayed pretty stumped through the creepy music round and only got a handful of Stephen King's novels to finish out the night. Guess when you have a million and a half books out under two different names, it's hard to keep track of which ones came first.
*Side Note: I learned something new about Stephen King since two of the teams wrote down The Langoliers as an answer. Not only is it a mini-series that was on in the 90s but it's also one of his novellas! So, no, it didn't get them any points...but knowing is half the battle!
So all in all, a quick intimate round of trivia that saw Team Venture walk away with some Ducks tickets and the other two teams getting some money off of their tab. Success for everybody! I'm off next week, but will be back for some November goodness the week after that!
Happy Halloween everybody!

There was tough competition tonight...and not between the Dodgers and Red Sox, but between me and the first game of the World Series!
What started out as a fairly empty night at Network exploded into one of our biggest games yet with a total of seven teams all fighting for some Ducks tickets! Over the course of seven grueling rounds battling through board games and secret X-Men, Wolfgang Puck and TV couples, we all experienced collective PTSD flashbacks to learning the state capitols in grade school for the final round...and all got served a helpful reminder that St. Louis is, in fact, not the capitol of Missouri.
Through all of the headscratchers tonight, though, Our Drinking Team Has a Trivia Problem reigned supreme by taking an early risk in our board game round: since they didn't have to scrabble for a clue, they claimed a Double or Nothing, saying sorry, not sorry, to the other teams in what they all must have thought was a trivial pursuit. They kept that lead to win the night and the tix!
New teams Brew Crew and Here for Beer rounded out our top 3 and surprised themselves by finding some fun outside of the Dodger game as I slowly won them over with my charming good looks...and promise of prizes.
Great job tonight, everybody! And see you all next week! (*crosses fingers that the World Series doesn't make it to Week 7...)
Shout out to Team Google for some great answers in the state capitol round: Joe Montana, Montana; Ash Tray, North Dakota; and Wonder Falls, Virginia were all so close...
