Paper was the theme of last night as three teams and this quizmaster got a rare look into a King Trivia game free of screens at Red Sash Brewing.

Flower Beards, Cloud 9, and Hot Tamales started off strong, but Flower Beards had one advantage: an ever-increasing team roster! They threw more bodies at this game than a Russian military campaign. And it paid off; Flower Beards took the game with 54 points, leaving Cloud 9 in cloud second-place with 44 points, and fresh, new talent Hot Tamales in third with 28.

But all are equal in the drinking round. We played Rochambeer (yes, I am proud of myself), a sort of group Paper, Rock, Scissors for beer. Cloud 9 took the round and the beer with nothing but paper.

Five teams descended on Red Sash Brewing with victory in their hearts and domination on their minds. But who among these intellectual giants would claim the ultimate prize—trivia supremacy?

Gus & the Ruckus took a slight early lead, but it did not take We Own This Place long to catch up. Cloud 9 entered the game in round two with a huge handicap; I salute those who play for love of the game, rather than for prizes.

The funguy maintained a solid third position all night. That is, until the drinking round. Each team was given ten ping pong balls to land in a cup; most ping pong balls in wins. Gus & the Ruckus and The funguy both managed two balls, leading to SUDDEN DEATH. But only The funguy managed to sink another ball, so they won a free round of Red Sash Brewing beers.

That business concluded, our first and second place teams fought hard in rounds six and seven. We Own This Place took first with 38 points and Gus & the Ruckus took second with 35.

While a snowstorm enveloped the city, two teams clashed for supremacy at Red Sash Brewing. Cloud 9 and Team Chungi proved that great minds think alike—at least for the first two tied rounds of a bar trivia game. Team Chungi worked relentlessly after that, leading Cloud 9 by five points after round five.

In the drinking round, teams were asked the following question: "Good Housekeeping picked the GE Profile Series French-Door Refrigerator with a Keurig K-Cup Brewing System as the Best Overall Refigerator of 2021. How much would you pay for this fridge at Wayfair.com?" Turns out nobody knows how much a fancy refrigerator goes for these days! The top answer was almost $2000 off but still earned Cloud 9 a round of drinks.

Team Chungi maintained a six-point lead after round six, and both teams made the decision to go Double-or-Nothing in round seven. While Team Chungi failed the question, ending the round with the 30 points they started with, Cloud 9 answered correctly, ending with 44 points!
