Our in house specials every Tuesday night are as follows:
DATELINE: June 28th, 2022 - Shakertin's at The Village in Allen, TX.
As June wraps up we had four of our regular teams show up for trivia entanglements. All players were seasoned and the playing was as steely as this quiz master has ever witnessed as evidenced by the pronounced yet judicious use of the deadly Double-or-Nothing! The DoN was used a total of seven times with only one failure!
One Left in the Chamber dominated early, swooping up first place with a whopping 80 point score! The struggle for second was where the drama was, with Deadly Alliance eventually capturing that spot while the Bumble Bees got shouldred into third. The old school, Wossa Matta-U under performed slightly but still finished last with a respectable 47 points.
The toughest round turned out to be the Picture Round in which the players had to identify the actor guest starring in a Star Trek project. Chris Hemworth got criss-crossed with Chris Pine. Kirsten Dunst was mistaken for Rebecca DeMornay. The guesses of desperation came fast and furious, hoping to earn silly style points (which don't count towards final score). Tig Notaro was pegged for Caitlyn Jenner or "that actor from The Good Doctor". Tom Hardy in make-up was tagged Yul Brynner, Jr. Other, dishonorable mentions included Anonymous Smith and Anonymous Jones. Mia Farrow got thrown in for good measure.
That's all the news that fits! See you next week!

The crew at Shakertin's was mellow and efficient last night while the loyal and laid back trivia teams gathered for the weekly ritual. Pickles on a Plate dominated start to finish taking first place with a fifteen point spread. The Dog Whisperers finally showed some teeth and captured second while an undermanned Deadly Alliance took third.
The normally brainy Bumble Bees found out the questions just weren't in their wheelhouse and landed in fourth. Newbies Uhhhh ended up in fifth place, having come to Shakertin's to celebrate a birthday, but ended up playing trivia for the fun. Also in on the fun were the self styled Late Bloomers, who showed up in Round Six but decided to get in on the action anyway. We hope to see these teams again!
Everybody have a great week!

The Tuesday night Shakertin's crew mustered and after the requisite overtures, four teams played the most stable, static and steady pub quiz of any this quiz master has witnessed in his career span.
The Dog Whisperers played really well, but just weren't able to get into the winner's circle with the top dogs. They ended up being the bottom dogs, actually. Perhaps it was what they whispered or perhaps it was just a dog-eat-dog situation. I don't know, but I do know that Quiz Master Lou is having too much fun riffing on this dog motif.
So, out of the gate, One Left in the Chamber, Deadly Alliance and the Rockefellers all tied with a Double-or-Nothing. On Round Two, OLitC took the lead, DA fell into second place with the R's bringing up third and it STAYED THAT WAY ALL EVENING! End of story.
Last night's quiz had a James Bond bias. The Find-The-Connection Round's common factor was Brit singer Adele, naturally the theme song from 2021's Skyfall was in there. It was Round Seven's challenge of naming the last ten Bond film titles that had the "not-so-Bondian-latelies" in a bit of a muddle, but it also provided some mirth. Eon Productions has had a tendency to reuse certain words in the later Bond titles and this particularity actually created some James Bond movies we haven't seen! I give you...
Tomorrow Never Comes
Die Tomorrow
No Other Day to Die
Not Enough Time to Die
Tomorrow's World Dies
License to Die... And my personal favorite,
Her Majesty's Secret Seance (spelling?)
That's it for this week. I'll love you til Tuesday!
