This week 10 teams gathered at Snakes & Lattes for a night of trivia! With much of our rounds consisting of tied scores its a surprise they didn't all get first place!
Our first General Knowledge round left us with 4 teams tied for first place with 8 points, 2 tied for second with 7 points, 3 tied for third at 6 points, and 1 in fourth place with 4 points.
Round 2 asked them to identify the video game fighter characters shown in the images. Our most commonly misidentified fighter was Glass Joe from Mike Tyson's Punch Out.
Round 3 this week was all about corn! By this point Smart and Pretty had broken through into a solid first place with 20 points, with Damsels Doing It Their Damn Selves, 12 Left Feet, and The Procrastinators still trailing just behind them with 19 points each. And behind them with a tie for third at 18 points was between Let's Get Quizzical and Big Brains. Then Team Too Spooky and Team Essex Street tied for fourth with 17 points. In fifth, Results TBD with 15 and in sixth Slytherin with 14 points. So it was still all a very close game!
Round 4 this week was a Guess Who. 4 of our teams were able to identify the mystery person. The Procrastinators were able to earn 8 points, Slytherin and Team Essex Street were able to earn 6 points each, and 12 Left Feet earned 2 points.Smart and Pretty and Team Too Spooky got the last name correctly but unfortunately put the incorrect full first name, meaning they each lost a point.
Round 5's Find the Connection proved to be tricky this week. While none of our teams were able to guess the commonality correctly, a few were quite close! The commonality in this week's answers were that they all contained words of a Yiddish origin.
Round 6 asked the teams to match the fictional father to their children! Let's Get Quizzical decided to play their Double or Nothing in this round. While they did not match up all of the answers, they did get all of the ones they wrote in correct allowing their team to earn 12 additional points!
And our final round this week asked the teams to name the 5 actresses to be nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress at the 2020 Academy Awards. Many of our teams struggled a bit in this round, but 12 Left Feet was able to name all 10 of these women and they played their Double or Nothing this round giving them 20 extra points to close out the game with! This use of their Double or Nothing gave this team the upper hand, bumping them into first place with 50 points even!
All of our teams did a great job last night! Come join us next week for King Trivia at Snakes & Lattes, Tuesday nights at 7PM!
Tuesday evening 10 teams gathered at Snakes & Lattes to play King Trivia! Our teams for the evening included Pickle Party, Goof Troop, Moose on the Loose, 3 Minutes of Less, Sliver Flip Flops, Let's Get At 'Er, 3+2, The Procrastinators, Nicolas CageLess, and Coffeeholics.
Our General Knowledge for Round 1 seemed to be fairly common knowledge. Our most missed question asked who wrote I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. We had Moose on the Loose in first place with 8 points and Pickle Party was in second with 7 points. There was a three-way tie for third place at 6 points between Goof Troop, Sliver Flip Flops, and The Procrastinators. We also had a tie in fourth place of 5 points between 3 Minutes of Less and Nicolas CageLess. In fifth was Coffeeholics with 4 points and Let's Get At 'Er and 3+2 were tied for sixth place with 3 points each.
Round 2 asked our teams to identify the celebrities who had "gone Joker" (meaning their faces had been photo-shopped with Joker makeup). 3 Minutes or Less and The Procrastinators both decided to play their Double or Nothing in this round, luckily they both got all of the answers correct so they were each able to earn 16 points for their teams! Goof Troop and Moose on the Loose didn't miss any of the answers this round. The rest of our teams missed between 1 to 3 of the answers, but everyone did very well this round!
Round 3's theme was that all of the answers would be related to -ologies! None of our teams got all of the answers correct in this round, and our most commonly missed question was "what '-ology' is the study of amphibians" and my favorite (incorrect) answer that was written for that answer was from Goof Troop who, in truly goofy fashion, wrote Kermitology.
By this point in the game The Procrastinators had stolen first place with a score of 27 points now. Behind them in second was 3 Minutes or Less with 25 points. In third was Moose on the Loose with 21 points. Pickle Party and Goof Troop were tied in fourth place with 18 points each. In fifth was Nicolas CageLess with 16 points, sixth was Silver Flip Flops with 15, seventh was 3+2 with 14 points, eighth place was Let's Get At 'Er with 13 points and in ninth was Coffeeholics with 11 points.
This week's Round 4 was a Guess Who. After our first clue Nicolas CageLess, The Procrastinators, and Silver Flip Flops had all turned in their answers and unfortunately they all had written the wrong answers so all of them lost a point for this round. Goof Troop was able to get the answer correct after our second clue giving their team 8 extra points! Pickle Party was able to guess correctly after our third clue which gave them 6 additional points. Moose on the Loose, 3+2, 3 Minutes or Less, and Let's Get At 'Er were all able to get the answer after our fourth clue. So all of their teams gained 4 points. The Coffeeholics were able to get the answer after our final clue so they were able to earn 2 points for their team. In the end the mystery person we were searching for was Sonic the Hedgehog!
Round 5's theme was to find the connection in the first nine answers in order to answer question 10! Pickle Party was our only team who was able to identify that all of the answers were TV game shows, a few other teams were close but not quite right!
Round 6 was my personal favorite round for last night's game. Our teams were asked to match the mythical creatures/characters to their non-human half. We had 4 teams play their Double or Nothing for this round. Goof Troop had written answers for all 10 questions and got all of them correct, giving their team 20 extra points towards their score! Pickle Party had all but 1 answer written in so with their Double or Nothing they earned 18 points for their team! Moose on the Loose had left 3 answers blank and Let's Get At 'Er left 4 blank, but got the rest correct so they were able to earn double their score as well!
The final round for last night's game asked what were 10 of the highest grossing James Bond films domestically. No one was able to get all of them correct but everyone did quite well!
In the end Goof Troop had taken first place with 61 points! In second we had Pickle Party with 60 points and in third was Moose on the Loose with 53 points! In fourth was 3 Minutes or Less with 51 points. Fifth went to The Procrastinators with 48 points. Sixth was Let's Get At 'Er with 39 points. In seventh we had Nicolas CageLess with 37 points. Eighth place went to 3+2 with 36 points. Ninth was Silver Flip Flops with 35 points. And in tenth place we had Coffeeholics with 26 points.
Tuesday night at Snakes & Lattes 9 teams gathered to test their skills in trivia! Our teams for the evening included Moose on the Loose, Team Too Spooky, The Celery Men, Big Booty Judy, Smart and Pretty, Megxit 2020, 12 Left Feet, The Procrastinators, and We Thought This Was Kickball!
Our General Knowledge for Round 1 started things off on easy footing for our teams. The most commonly missed question was about the leading characters that will be featured in the new Disney World ride called "Runaway Railway". Many of our teams wrote characters from Toy Story or Frozen, an even more interesting answer was Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. However the answer we were looking for was Mickey and Minnie Mouse!
Round 2 asked our teams to identify the movies in the images based on an animal companion that appears in the movie. The teams that did the best this round were Megxit 2020 and 12 Left Feet who each got 6 points.
By this point in the game 12 Left Feet were in first place with 14 points, with Megxit 2020 in second with 13 points and Moose on the Loose in third with 12 points. Team Too Spooky, The Celery Men, and Smart and Pretty were all tied in fourth place with 11 points. Behind them in fifth was We Thought This Was Kickball with 10 points. In sixth was a tie of 9 points between Big Booty Judy and The Procrastinators.
In Round 3 the theme was that all of the answers would rhyme with either the word "year" or "years". Pretty much all of our teams got 6 out of 6 answers correct this round, save 12 Left Feet who just missed a single answer! We also had 4 teams play their Double or Nothing in this round, so The Procrastinators, Team Too Spooky, Big Booty Judy, and Smart and Pretty were each able to earn 12 additional points for their teams!
The theme for Round 4 this week was a Guess What. 7 of our teams turned in their answers after the second clue and each of them guessed correctly so they all earned 8 points for their teams! Smart and Pretty was able to guess correctly after our third clue which gave their team 6 extra points. We Thought This Was Kickball had guessed that our mystery thing was The Crucible and unfortunately had to lose a point for this answer, as the correct answer we were looking for was The Scarlet Letter!
By now Team Too Spooky was in first place with 31 points. In second was a 3-way tie between Big Booty Judy, Smart and Pretty, and The Procrastinators each with 29 points. In third was another tie between Megxit 2020 and 12 Left Feet with 27 points. In fourth, Moose on the Loose with 26 points. Fifth was The Celery Men with 25 points. Sixth was We Thought This Was Kickball with 15 points.
Round 5 was our Find the Connection round where teams have to figure out the commonality of answers 1-9 in order to answer question 10. Many of our teams did well in this round, however, Megxit 2020 was the only one who was able to see that the commonality was that each of the answers were titles of movies or TV shows that starred Jennifer Aniston.
Round 6 asked the teams to match books that had the words "fire" or "ice" in its title to the author who wrote it. Our teams that did the best in this round were Moose on the Loose, who earned 7 points this round, and The Celery Men, who earned 5 points.
Our final round for the evening had 3 different questions that were all very different. The first question asked about UN member country names that started with "Saint", the second asked the names of Daenerys' dragon's names, and the final question asked what 4 NHL teams Wayne Gretsky played for.
At the end of this round we had a 2-way tie for second place and a 3-way tie for third. In order to break up the second place tie we whipped out our finalizing tie breaker question! The teams that participated in this were Team Too Spooky and Moose on the Loose. Our question asked them how many calories are in Hostess Twinkies. Team Too Spooky wrote 215 while Moose on the Loose wrote 275. The correct answer was 270, meaning Moose on the Loose was the closest to the answer and was able to gain second place!
In the end 12 Left Feet took first with 58 points. Moose on the Loose in second with 50. Team Too Spooky in third with 49 points. Smart and Pretty, Megxit 2020, and Big Booty Judy shared fourth place each with 48 points. In fifth was The Procrastinators with 43 points. The Celery Men were in sixth place with 40 points. And We Thought This Was Kickball took seventh place with a total of 27 points.
Congrats to all the teams who played! Join us again next Tuesday evening at 7pm at Snakes & Lattes for King Trivia!
