Stay Gold Deli is an Italian-American Deli counter, Central Texas BBQ spot, grocer, restaurant, coffee shop, market, arcade, and beer garden. We offer a variety of specialty items, ranging from smoked meats to house-made pickles to vegan items. There is a fully functional smoker grandfathered into the property, rumored to have been built by the same folks who built Everett & Jones’ smokers back in the day! Despite the torrential rain we'd been having all day, there was a good turnout at Stay Gold for the first night of league play. The game was very tight in the first few rounds, with Know Nose taking a decent lead in the 4th. But things really heated up in round 5, when The Toasted Buns went double or nothing successfully. They sprang into a commanding lead, and cemented it for the night with another double or nothing in round 6.

They weren't the only success story of the night though. My Other Car Is A Trivia Team struggled initially, even taking a negative point in the "Guess Who" round. But a daring double or nothing in Round 6 as well as a strong showing in the final round catapulted them into 2nd place for the night.

Finally, we celebrated the Lunar New Year in the drinking round by having players submit their best pig drawings. Bartender Ben judged them, and Witches of Eastwick won the round, though they graciously donated their pitcher to another team as Witches was led by one of the managers of the Stay Gold. Took a nice little drive out to Oakland for an evening of King Trivia at Stay Gold Deli. Got four teams to play and even got two of them to register their teams online with King Trivia!

This game started off a little on the low scoring side but each team hit some key double or nothing options and they found their stride.

In the end, Ruby the Chihuahua and her owners took home first prize! Toasted Buns and My other car is a Trivia Team are all registered and ready for next week. Hope everyone can come back next week and have some more fun!

There were a lot of stumpers in the first trivia game of 2019 at Stay Gold. No one could even hazard a guess on "Guess Who," and the scores remained low throughout the evening. We did end up with a tie for first at the end of the night, with our first tie breaker ever at this location.

While the numbers may not have been big, the smiles were, as everyone was having a good, if head-scratching, night of trivia.
