Trivia Haiku:

"Trivia was fun

The crowd enjoyed themselves too

No drink specials there."

I arrived in enough time to get all materials set up and organized, gauge the crowd, get water from the bartenders, add my notes to the answer sheet and was feeling good about myself.

Then fell victim to the dreaded "technical difficulty". Alas, the microphone set-up eluded me. As someone who considers themselves to be the actual worst sound engineer, I wasn't surprised.

Finally, the loud feedback of the microphone let me know things were working.

After that, the night went great. Everybody enjoyed the questions and a good 65% of my jokes landed. That's up a full 52% over this year's Thanksgiving with my family! Score one for the trivia master.
