The VIBE:

A slow developing night. For the first time, I held the game about 15 minutes so I could round up some more teams. I mean, let's be honest, parking in this city SUCKS.

The GAME:

Round 1 - Three teams, who were all first timers, had to be courted through the "hand in your answers to me" process. But after they had that down, we were smooth sailing.....sort of.

Series regulars, Gangrene Gang, took an early lead with 17 points after Round 2/Pictures. It was a sports round that apparently most teams did not believe in.

Round 3 was super exciting for me and I applaud our Question Making Super Team for introducing a new category - Haikus! That being said, it was super hard. Everyone hated me.

The hatred continued into Round 4 where they had to guess a place. Even I will admit - this was tough. Props to the BoozeCats who were the only team to land Old Faithful!

Oh. After Round 4, T & S admitted they were too drunk to play anymore - so they quickly left to go throw-up I presume. Good for them.

Round 5 was another mess. Somehow also the lowest scoring round of the night. Clearly I needed to change up the energy of the room. So what better way.....then....the.....

Drinking Round! Taking a page from my own NINTENDO Night playbook, we played "Find The Differences" once again and it was a riot of a good time. This was the much needed I Know I Am Here Playing Trivia But Please Don't Ask Me Any More Questions For Like Five Minutes round.

Round 6 was a musical matching round - or as the teams called it - a musical guessing round.

I took one look at Round 7 and laughed out loud. "Name 10 of the 12 apostles, according to the New Testament." It seemed like the perfect ending to an unusually difficult game.

The RESULTS:

5th place went to the drunkest team of the night.....T & S (10 points).

After hearing they had to pretend to be religious for Round 7, they didn't even bother playing. Ok. Fair enough, Queens of Kings (13 points).

It was KALIYAH's birthday so the team of 8 let her be the name. Awwww how sweet. Here is 3rd place (24 points) and a drink token. (Please don't give it to T&S).

Gangrene Gang (32 points) played strong in the first half but weren't able to stop the musical, CCD loving......

BoozeCats (40 points) who took home the Grand Prize as champions of the night!

Don't forget: Winter is here...this Spring!

GAME OF THRONES tickets are on sale NOW!

(This will sell out. I mean, "It's not HBO. It's King Trivia.")

The VIBE:

I totally dig this venue. Mood is important...and this place knows how to keep it low-key and cool. So, you could imagine my surprise when I walked in and said, "Whoa! Never before has this room been so bright! I can finally see all these smiling faces!"

I ran to the bathroom.

Came back.

BOOM - as dim as usual. Way to crush a boy's dream.

The GAME:

Round 1 was a 5 point breeze for most teams.

In Round 2/Pictures, one of my big shot daddy-o regular's - Gangrene Gang (who, ahem, DID apologize last week for walking out without saying goodbye)....handed in their answers very quickly. When I shot him a quizzical look, he smugly said, "These first two rounds were easy". What gall! What audacity! How dare he....oh, wow. They doubled-up. 16 points. Nice round.

In Round 3, Mr. T says: Curling is cool... FOOL! went for the double-up early and barely missed it! But I knew with that strategy, they were going to be a team to watch. (And yes. Don't bother asking. BEST team name of the night).

Round 4 stumped nearly everyone. Apparently nobody saw Captain America. Makes senes. It only made 1 billion dollars. In 2 months.

In an unusual Round 5, not one team was able to double-up. To make matters worse, Not In The R's (which I'm still convinced is something dirty) had a perfect round - but were on the fence - and didn't double up! Yowsers. Oh wait. Not in the R's. Ummm, I mean. Yowses.

The Drinking Round: Remixing a challenge from Quizmaster Paul, I had everyone take their favorite marvel character and pair it up with a TV show or movie. Winner - Game of Thorns.

Round 6 had back-to-back double-up's as the tension increased heading into the last round.

In Round 7, two amazing things happened.

1) I was absolutely appalled to learn that there have been NINE shows about the freakin' Real Housewives. Are you kidding me? And they canceled Pushing Daisies after TWO seasons?!!!!!!!!

2) I don't even remember the 2nd thing anymore. I'm still pissed.

The RESULTS:

PIMP's were a rowdy bunch of (newly registered!) eight players who triumphantly won the beer and 41 points.

My regular dynamic duo, BoozeCats (41 points), had some help tonight from some dude - which is my only explanation for why they did not place in the Top 3. I hope he reads this and feels ashamed.

Very much welcomed newcomers - Mr. T says: Curling is cool... FOOL! finished with a solid 52 points. Just behind....

3rd place - Not In The R's who came back disguised as a different name...but I recognized them. So I will also give myself 3rd place.

In the 7th Round, Third Place came out of nowhere with a Real Houswives double-up and ended up sneaking into the #2 spot!

However...our winners...in a remarkable "never trailed a single round" victory.......................GANGRENE GANG!!!!!

QUIZ RECAP

The VIBE:

Soooo many people came out tonight. Most of them didn't know we were even having trivia...but it only took a few key phrases like "You can win BIG BIG prizes! But not really" to get them on board. We started with 6 teams, then 2 more joined, then 1 more joined....so at one point we had "two...four...niner...five, six seven...
I can't hear you, you're trailing off and did I hear a niner in there? Were you calling from a walkie-talkie?"

The GAME:

Round 1 was a nice warm-up with Round 2 / Pictures being a much stronger point total overall.

Round 3 was all about movie curses and wishes. But the only "cursing" came from the tables as only two teams managed to break past 5 points.

Three teams decided that they wanted to go for the 10 points in a rather difficult Round 4 / Guess Where?....but none of them succeeded. My favorite part of that round was when 2 Dudes joined us and then turned in the wrong answer....so I was forced with writing -1 in their total. Welcome aboard! They left shortly afterwards. ?Adios!

Round 5 / Find the Connection was a solid round overall....even though only the BoozeCats actually deciphered the connection!

I threw together a little Spielberg/Lucas trivia for The Drinking Round and in a moment of tenderness - our last place team ended up taking home the alcohol. Shout out to GCM!

Everyone HATED Round 6. (Oh yeah. And I was supposed to report that back to team Question Makers). Only one team scored more than 4 points....on a 20 point opportunity! The moral: All hip-hop songs by DJ Khaled are interchangeable.

One of the players from Daniellaellaella was from El Salvador...so when Round 7 needed all 8 countries that started with the letter "E"....you could practically accuse them of cheating. I didn't. Instead, I showered them with 7 points.

The RESULTS:

GCM came late, drank their wine, and left with 18 points.

The Cook & The Look were a cute couple that racked up 23 points.

They played. They left. They came back. So odd. But Daniellaellaella held out for 27 points.

One of my favorite regulars (and now registered!), Gangrene Gang, left without saying goodbye to me. I'll expect to hear their apology next week. In the meantime, here is 28 points for them.

In 4th place was 3rd Place (I know, right?). But they were super nice. Solid work - 34 points.

And in 3rd place...our returning champions from last week......BoozeCats with 41 points.

And in the Lead (who were NEVER "in the lead") took home the bronze with a razimitastic 48 points.

But nobody...I mean nobody....could catch the Mother Pheasant Plucking Mother Phesants (and yes I plucked it up once on the mic). They took the lead in Round 3 and held on strong 'til the end with 52 points. Bravo!!!!

That's all for now. Don't forget AVENGERS this weekend and NINTENDO next! Sign-up-up-up-and-away! (I've been watching way too many superhero movies lately).
