What a night at Barney's Westwood!

25 teams met head to head to carouse and shout trivia answers to their hearts content. Things started off slow, with teams quite unsure if they were ready to approach the answer box and leave their sheets. Time is always flowing, however and deadlines approach.

By the second round things were finding a bit more of a swing and most teams only missed one or two, with a few unfortunate double-downs that didn't make it.

Rounds 3 and 4 got a bit more cuthroat as teams realized they needed to make some headway if they were going to pull far enough ahead of the pack, but the opportunities are for the bold and round 4 saw teams waiting to be sure of their answers before risking the dreaded negative one point for a wrong answer - some teams learned the sting first hand.

The Double-down may have returned for round 5, but no team was confident enough to attempt it, although there were several perfect scores. The handout round had teams leaning into the math, doubling down with abandon, shich paid off for some, upjumping them into contention.

The Governator was both friend and foe in round seven as teams scrambled for each and every precious point, but at the top of the heap were three:

What better than a night of Trivia in the West Wood?

Teams were NOT messing around and started the game with 5 successful double-downs and 3 additional perfect score "should-haves" and then it continued to get realer as eleven - ELEVEN teams doubled successfully and none of the remaining seven scored less than six. The next round wasn't so specacular, but everyone did fairly well, with a smattering of doubles and mostly high scores, otherwise.

Round 4 saw our first zeroes, as even with the final clue, teams had none. Round 5 brought back a little moxie and perfect scores flew far and wide, although no one attempted doubling. With a command of categorical knowledge, teams threw themselves at the math for the final two rounds, with 10 double-downs successful in round 7, leaving "Winnie the Poo Hole" at the top of the heap, followed by "Alex Trebek's Children" and the perennial favourites "Late night Thots"

Classes are starting, but that doesn't mean we aren't keeping it classy down the road at Barney's Beanery!

It would have started out civil, but "Yass Queens" and "Pat's Honey" just HAD to double-down and lay down the gauntlets early.

Round 2 had an even split, between the confident teams and those singing the cheers for beers and promising they aren't here for the points. Confidence played well in round 3 for some, but missing just one question dashed a few double-downs to zero. No one waited long to hop on the horse with Napoleon, but it was round 5 where the magic happened. Only 3 teams were unable to double-down, which, while impressive, basically cancelled out the whole round and no one really improved or worsened their standing. Things started to shake out as the leaders emerged through rounds 6 and 7 with the math on their side, but a tiebreaker emerged in the very last round for 3rd place! $10 minimum reigned triumphant, in the tiebreaker and snatched the Gift card for Third, following "Pat's Honey" in second and "Yass Queens" in first.
