It was a night of upsets, and not just being upset with double downs. We had teams cheering and jeering each other the whole night through, and congratulating or commiserating over the effects of double-downs.

There's Always Next week was the first out of the gate with a successful double down and maintained a steady stride all game ending in Second Place

Tequila Mockingbirds steadily improved their scores each round, securing several Double-Downs that proved essential for the win.

The real excitement came, however, with a tie-breaker for 3rd place between The Biscuiteers and The Kids' Table, pitting their representatives in 3 head-to-head tie breaking questions in which the $10 3rd-Place giftcard went to regulars The Kids Table.

Game Rank Team # Team Name Score Teams Beaten Team Beat Average
1 10155 Tequila Mockingbirds 71 9 1.000

What a fun night we had in the Pineapple Hill. 12 teams met for trivial fury, and the points tallied away with many teams attempting (but not all successfully achieving) double-downs in multiple rounds. About half of the teams doubled-down in round one, and half of those again would go on to place and win prizes- but we're getting ahead of ourselves.

Round 2 found our heroes a little gun-shy, but Double-downs ruled the game again in round 3, with only 3 teams abstaining.

Round 4 was the turning point for our game, with teams bleeding points in an effort to secure enough clues to take at least something away (those minus points are scary!).

The Drinking round was a fantabulous array of guesses (In Centimeters) of how tall Bruno Mars is. Most of the teams were unsure of at least one thing, either how tall Bruno Mars is, or how tall a centimeter is, with many guesses in the 500s (that's 5 meters tall or more). But there's always a winner, and winners get a round of drinks!

Hungry for a win, the Kid's Table and Tequila Mockingbirds successfully doubled down on a downright ugly round 5, but thankfully everyone at least got the connection (Hooray Saturday Morning Cartoons, sigh, it's sad those aren't really a thing anymore).

Things got real in rounds 6 and 7, most teams playing conservative and unsure of their answers, maybe still reeling from round 4, it was a fairly high scoring game over all, however, with the top 4 teams scoring over 60 points! There's only room for 3 on the podium to collect Gift Cards, however, and if you want to check on that, The Kids Table, Ovaltine Jenkins, and Tequila Mockingbirds can confirm, in descending order.

Game Rank Team # Team Name Score Teams Beaten Team Beat Average
1 10038 The Kids Table 75 11 1.000
2 10125 Ovaltine Jenkins 69 10 0.909
3 10155 Tequila Mockingbirds 68 9 0.818
4 10128 There's Always Next Week 62 8 0.727
5 Quizards of Oz 59 7 0.636
6 10063 the oxymorons 49 6 0.545
7 10274 Jam and the Clams 46 5 0.455
8 13476 Multiple scoregasms 34 4 0.364
9 Thunder Snow 29 3 0.273
10 Mei Mei's Masterminds 28 2 0.182
11 Crimea River 16 1 0.091
12 Solo 12 0 0.000

What a fun post-St. Patrick's Day re-meeting of drinking buddies. It was a only slightly damp night outside, but escaping the threat of torrential downpour 11 teams rushed into Pineapple Hill Saloon to test their mettle.

Usually quite bold, the regular teams all shied away from doubling-down in round one. Reconsidering their courage and scribbling frantic "we know we marked double-down, but we didn't mean it" notes to their quizmaster. EVERY team that took back their double-down would have found success, but merely took the full 6 points for round 1.

It would not be until round 3 that teams would gain enough confidence to try for double-points, and those that did were rewarded by their trivial knowledge.

Round 5 is where the game began to be decided with 4 teams scoring 20 points from their double downs, most of them repeating the success in at least one of the subsequent rounds.

Scoring high, all three placing teams finished with points in the eighties! Astonishing.
