About Scuttlebutt Taproom & Brewery

 

Founded by Phil and Cynthia “Scuttle” Bannan in 1996, the idea started as a homebrewing kit for Father’s Day 1990. As thoughtful as the gift was, it was also a source of strife – Scuttle wanted to use the kitchen for preparing meals for the family while Phil was crowding her out in favor of homemade beer. To maintain marital bliss we decided to move out of the kitchen and into a larger operation. A business plan was established in 1995 and we grew our operation from 5 gallon buckets to a 20 barrel system.

 

We brewed our first beer on July 4, 1996 with a 20 barrel system in the brew house, two 20 barrel fermenters and one 20 barrel bright tank. We brewed three styles of beer and finished out that first year with 170 barrels sold. Since then our capacity has grown and we have broadened our product line to include more than 20 styles of hand-crafted ales and lagers.

 

After more than 20 years Scuttlebutt Brewing Company remains family owned and independent.

Fun, Fun, Fun. It was another great night of trivia at Scuttlebutt. These teams are great fun to be around.

Round 1 saw It's Never Sunny jump on top by a point over Suck it, Trebek.

Round 3 gave us a new leader, Bar Tops who successfully used their double.

Round 4 was probably one of the easiest Guess Where rounds that we have had and I was surprised only 2 of the six teams got it for 10 points.

Round 5 is where the shook up took place. Four teams tried to double their points but only 1 team was successful which vaulted It's Never Sunny into a huge lead.

Round 6 had Suck it, Trebek double their round which brought them from back in the pack into second place.

After round seven the newest regular team It's Never Sunny claimed back to back titles with Suck it, Trebek coming in second for the second straight week.

I hope to see everybody next week with new friends.

What a absolute fun time we had at trivia tonight. Six returning teams and one new team trying for that ever elusive cup.

The first round didn't appear to be very hard with 6 of the 7 teams getting a perfect score and 3 of them doubling up.

The second round had It's Never Sunny doubling again and jumping out with a commanding lead that would never be surrendered. The battle for second place was on.

Second place would change multiple times in the next few rounds. going into the final round there were five teams within 3 points of second place. Who knows their Robert De Niro movies would determine the outcome.

Robert De Niro proved to be a hard question with everybody guessing the older and better movies that didn't make as much money as the newer inflated movies. In the end, Suck It Trebek squeaked by Bar Tops.

Congratulations to everybody to came out tonight. Tuesday nights are always a blast at Scuttlebutt. I hope to see everybody again next week.

Tonight was a battle all the way to the end.

Four of the five teams successfully scored double points in the first round.

The second round had two perfect scores but nobody was gutsy enough to try and double. This put the newest team It's Never Sunny into first place.

Round four turned out to be a very hard Who Am I, with the highest points total being 2 by the leading It's Never Sunny.

After round five there were two teams tied for first. It's Never Sunny and PDRoE. My Couch and the Bar Tops were only a couple points behind.

Round six seemed like a pretty easy round since every team successfully double this round.

The last and final round was finding out who knew about the youngest presidents. At the end we still had a tie between the top two teams. The tie breaker would end up going to PDRoE by one point. It has been awhile since they walked out as the champions. Good job.

Tonight was great fun. I enjoy seeing everybody every week. Until next week, TTFN.
