About Scuttlebutt Taproom & Brewery

 

Founded by Phil and Cynthia “Scuttle” Bannan in 1996, the idea started as a homebrewing kit for Father’s Day 1990. As thoughtful as the gift was, it was also a source of strife – Scuttle wanted to use the kitchen for preparing meals for the family while Phil was crowding her out in favor of homemade beer. To maintain marital bliss we decided to move out of the kitchen and into a larger operation. A business plan was established in 1995 and we grew our operation from 5 gallon buckets to a 20 barrel system.

 

We brewed our first beer on July 4, 1996 with a 20 barrel system in the brew house, two 20 barrel fermenters and one 20 barrel bright tank. We brewed three styles of beer and finished out that first year with 170 barrels sold. Since then our capacity has grown and we have broadened our product line to include more than 20 styles of hand-crafted ales and lagers.

 

After more than 20 years Scuttlebutt Brewing Company remains family owned and independent.

It was a busy night at Scuttlebutt Taproom. Nate even had to get on the forklift to get an extra table.

After two rounds only three points separated all the teams with My Couch Pulls Out and PEDRO tied for the lead.

It was a battle back and forth for the next few rounds with all teams thinking they were going to win.

Going into the last round PEDRO had a nice lead of 6 points but all the other teams were within 2 points of each other. I am thinking we are going to have a tie so I ask the tie breaker question early.

After everything was said and done PEDRO was the winner and Suck it Trebek was second. We didn't need the tie breaker but out of four teams, three teams submitted the same answer and they all would have lost.

I am excited to see so many people come out tonight. I am hoping to see even more next week. Have a great week.

Welcome to Tuesday night trivia at Scuttlebutt. This is the place where people drink some tasty beers and try to answer questions that we do not need to know in our life.

Suckit Trebek (formerly known as The Leftovers)was not playing around tonight. They jumped out of the gates doubling the first round and never looked back.

The Bartops (same name but different players from previous week) and Super Party Llamas (formerly known as Emily Sucks) were going to battle it out for second place.

The shocker of the night was when Super Party Llamas which is a team filled with girls that have no idea about sports won the sports category.

After it was all done Super Party Llamas edged out The Bartops for third.

Thank you to the teams that continue to come out and support this new venture for Scuttlebutt. I hope to see everybody and their friends next week.l

What a great night of drinking beer and playing trivia tonight at Scuttlebutt Taproom. Three of the four teams that played tonight held the lead at one point and all teams at one point in the night were in last place.

The first team to hold the lead was The Leftovers after scoring 5 in round 1. The last place teams were Emily Sucks and The Bartops.

The second team to take the lead was The Bartops after successfully doubling in round 2. This left Emily Sucks in last place all alone.

The next time the lead changed was after round five when Emily Sucks stormed back to tie The Bartops. This left My Couch Pulls Out as the third team to hold the bottom spot.

Round 6 had Emily Sucks take the solo lead with The Bartops and The Leftovers unsuccessfully doubling up. My Couch Pulls Out was successful doubling and jumped into second. This left The Leftovers in last place.

The standings would remain the same after round 7 and congratulations go to Emily Sucks.

Thank you to everyone who came out to play. A special thanks to Jen for bringing Chewbacca to hang out with us. We will wee everybody again next week.
