Whilst an event was held out on the patio of Short Path Distillery, trivia night was held inside, but nonetheless Quizmaster Conor gave it his all and belted each question with his booming, theater-trained voice. This week, as we have now entered the holiday season, we had an easy Guess Who round for Ebenezer Scrooge (which every team got) and a difficult final round for those who have never seen the poster for 2003's Love Actually, but being stumped is half of the fun of trivia! With only 10 points separating first from last place, all teams were in the running the entire game and by using their Disneyland work experience in Round 2's picture round, team Mike was given the edge and pulled out the victory.

From start to finish last night's game was a close one. With a returning team defending their title and four new teams taking them on, the game was enthralling throughout. Rounds one and two were nothing that our players couldn't handle. No stand-out leads were taken and up until round 6 teams were switching standings with every question. While teams Old Fashionably Late and Keep Your Gin Up were in good spirits the whole game, they were the two teams that fell short of the podium. Only one point separated their 4th and 5th place finishes, which is just what separated our 2nd and 3rd place entrants, Boozy Benefits and 3 Sisters. Walking away with $10 and $20 gift cards respectively, they're the prime example of why it pays to give your all: one answer could cost you 10 whole dollars. In the end, leading the pack nearly the entire game, our returning champs Fox and the Hound played a stellar game and ended with a whopping 61 points.

Sponsored by Bang energy drink*, host Conor was off his rocker at last night's trivia night. After a long day of work, he was excited to wind down and subsequently wind back up at his favorite quiz venue, Short Path Distillery. There were old-comers and newbies at the event and it truly came down to the last two rounds to decide which teams would walk away with gift cards. This was Dijkstra Algorithm's 2nd game in a row and Triviasaurus Rex's 5th! But both teams were given a run for their money being joined by the pun-inspired Whiskey Quizness and the overall champs of the night, Fox and the Hound. Topics ranged from dentistry to royalty, from Fenway Park to Arnold Schwarzenegger movies and the night was electric. The music was bumping and all players were engaged from the moment the first question was asked. Now I have one question to ask you: what's stopping you from coming to the open mic THIS Wednesday??
