QUIZ RECAP

Sustained by the refreshment of excellent Collision food and beverages, the teams settled into the competition with the happy glow of the sun finally coming out just before setting. Your quizmaster battled some gremlins early in the game, but this just gave a chance for everyone to eat, drink, and be merry. Welcome to the new team Bawn & Shonnie and all the veterans. F words for $500 and Trebek's Rejects both had some go for broke moments, and unfortunately did the latter. Brown Chicken Brown Cow also had a whiff trying to double round 5 but hung on for 3rd place. Both Gold vs Gold in 2nd and #momjeans at #1 had solid games with the Mom's trusting their inner selves and doubling up on 2 of the rounds and getting the Who's who on the first clue! Thanks teams for welcoming Paul as your substitute host and Larry as your scorekeeper - it took two of them cover for what Gil does every week! Close, hard fought contest this evening with a new team "F" Words for $500 just one point off the platform, while another new team Here For The Beer trailed but kept plugging away. Brown Chicken, Brown Cow was able to score the thrill of a double or nothing in the 5th round, and suffered the agony of missing the double in both the 3rd and 6th rounds, yet still held on to the bronze. Silver went to #momjeans who played a steady game, and Gold went not to Gold vs Gold (who shared the top score in two of the rounds), but instead was Trebek's Rejects who also hit a double or nothing while missing one (recognize also for sportsmanship reminding your substitute quizmaster when they doubled and missed where initially he had them with a partial score). Gil will be back next week, hope you all will be too!

With end-of-school events abounding throughout Northern Colorado, turnout was down but the competition was heated tonight at Collision Brewing. #momjeans were (thankfully) back after a week's absence, and regulars (and former winners) Gold vs. Gold and Brown Chicken, Brown Cow rounded out the field. The teams were tightly bunched most of the night, with only 3 points separating them all after 3 rounds. A failed 8-point guess in the Guess Who round dropped #momjeans out of a tie for 1st and 5 points off the pace, the same position in which they finished. Gold vs. Gold were in the race all night but opted to "go big or go home" in the final round; their logic was inassailable as they entered Round 7 in 3rd place and they were already guaranteed a prize (with only 3 teams playing). Their double-or-nothing bid yielded nothing (despite a respectable 8 out of 10) and left them in 3rd. Brown Chicken, Brown Cow were steady throughout and won for the 2nd week in a row; their 25 points in the last 3 rounds kept them in front of #momjeans until the end.

Collision is booked for a private event next week but we'll see you all again on May 16th!
