An excellent game tonight at Collision...we even had our first tiebreaker round since returning!

Trebek's Rejects jumped out fast with a successful double-or-nothing in Round 1, but Gold vs. Gold (8) and Fantasia 2022 (7) began to close the gap in Round 2. When 4-Way Stop and How You Dune each hit a successful double in Round 3, all 5 teams were within a 6-point spread,  with How You Dune leading by a point; when they took a -1 in the Guess Who round, the Rejects moved into 1st place by a point over Fantasia 2022 and Gold vs. Gold...but still only 5 points separated all 5 teams! Fantasia 2022 (moving into a first-place tie) and 4-Way Stop were high scorers in Round 5 (with 9) as all 5 teams were still within a 5-point-spread....but 4-Way Stop, waiting in the weeds all night long, leapfrogged everyone with a successful double-or-nothing in the Handout round.  They led by 8 going into the last round, and they scored 8 of a possible 10 to cruise to the win. But Trebek's Rejects and Gold vs. Gold each tallied 7 to finish tied for second, necessitating....THE TIEBREAKER QUESTION!  The Rejects wildly overshot the answer, leaving Gold vs. Gold tonight's runners-up, and everyone in a good mood heading home.  See you all next week (including #momjeans, who ALL missed the night with sick kids after the first week of school)!

Another fun night at Collision, thanks everyone for coming out!  The game was tightly bunched in the early going, with all 7 teams within 2 points after Round 1 and within a 3-point spread after two rounds.  Find Your Irvine gambled on a double-or-nothing in Round 3....and their 5 out of six yielded a 0 for the round; interestingly, they were the only team to correctly identify the northern Canadian province, and were able to explain the "Get it and like it or get none of it" (Nunavut) pun.  Fantasia 2022 were high scorers in the round with 5 out of 6 and they began their slow but inexorable journey to victory.  As the only team to successfully answer "Guess Who" for 6 points, they were again high scorers in Round 4, opening up a 5 point lead over #momjeans (& 7 points over Gold vs. Gold); Trebek's Rejects and Curators' Corner each took a -1 and fell out of contention.  Gold vs. Gold and Find Your Irvine each tallied 10 out of a possible 10 in the Find The Connection Round, and #momjeans and Gold vs. Gold were high scorers in the Handout Round with 9 out of 10; but Fantasia 2022 scored 9 and 8 in those rounds to enter the final round still 4 and 5 points in front of the latter two.  An honorable mention goes out here to The Moist Towelettes for their high score of the night (and of the final round) with 7 of a possible 10; the top 3 teams entering the final round each scored 6 points, leaving Gold vs. Gold in 3rd place with 39 points, #momjeans as runnersup with 40, and Fantasia 2022 as tonight's winners with 44 points (even without their iPad!)

QUIZ RECAP

A super fun night at Collision tonight, complete with a thrilling finish!  Trebek's Rejects got all 6 right in the first round...but were eclipsed by Gold vs. Gold, #momjeans and "Our Team Abandoned Us For Korn", each of which hit a successful double-or-nothing!  Those 3 all stayed in a pack for most of the night, including all scoring 6 of a possible 8 in the Picture Round (along with Trebek's Rejects). "Korn" were high scorers with 6 in Round 3 to nose in front, and they led for most of the night.  #momjeans took a -1 in the Guess Who round to drop from the pack, while everyone else (including 1st timers Geeky Blinders) got 2 points.  #momjeans and Trebek's Rejects were high scorers in the Find The Connection Round to tighten things up a bit ("Coldplay?? Really??"), and the standings remained unchanged when Korn, Gold, Momjeans and the Rejects ALL hit successful double-or-nothings, leaving Korn with a 2 point lead over Gold vs. Gold entering the final round.  Our Team Abandoned Us For Korn tallied a respectable 7 (of a possible 10) in Round 7...but Gold vs. Gold nipped them at the finish with a 9, winning the night by a single point.  All the parents left right away (tomorrow's the first day of school here in Longmont) but promised to be back next week.  See y'all then!!
