On Thursday nights, the Dunn Brothers Coffee Shop is a pub;
And that's when we have King Trivia Pub Quiz! Unless we want
to call it King Trivia Coffee Shop Quiz? Or maybe we could
go with Dunn Brothers Coffee Pub? I'm drifting...
We had three teams appear. When I say 'appear', I don't mean
they materialized out of thin air, I'm speaking metaphorically.
And when I say I'm 'speaking', I really mean I'm typing... I'm
drifting again. Sorry. The nice thing about playing KTPQ with
only three teams is that everyone is a winner!
Jody Foster Fan Club (JFFC) took home the gold for the third
time in a row, giving them a nice little winning streak. The
Rockafellers scored second and newbie team the Dukes (who also
registered) came in third. Welcome Dukes!
Naturally, there were some Christmas and Hannukah questions
in the sets this week as we approach the impending holiday.
The Theme Round was titled SEASON'S EATINGS, where players
had to figure out some traditional holiday food minutia. QM
Lou's fave was Round Six's NOT SO SECRET SANTA, where teams
had to match the gift listed to the movie character that
received it. (Those punning devils!)
Well, next week is the lead in to Christmas and QM Lou will
appear (but not materialize) at Dunn Bros on the eve of the
eve for yet another KTPQ! Until then, I remain, as always...
Yours

The action at Dunn Brothers Coffee Shop was exciting last night
to say the least. The Jody Foster Fan Club (JFFC) took home
first place with aplomb while Deadly Alliance, severely under-
manned, finished last. The drama occurred when Rockerfellers
slugged it out with the Bumble Bees to win a tie breaker for
second and third places, respectively.
There was an excellent cross section of questions from our
trivia overlords as well. This led to some pretty good entries
for Quiz Master Lou's Mirth Department of Wrong Guesses of
Desperation. For example...
The U.S. equivalent of Britain's John Bull is Uncle Sam. But
one team put down Smokey Bear. (I wonder if the UK has a Smokey
Bear equivalent? Sooty Nigel?) The Picture Round challenged the
players to name the actor playing a vampire. No one could identify
Jemaine Clement from What We Do in the Shadows, but one team put down Donahue Van Burton. Puzzled, QM Lou tried googling said name and came up empty. Said team admitted they just made it up.
QM Lou quipped, "It's a mash up of Troy Donahue, Van Johnson
and Richard Burton." The Guess Who Round's subject was Avril
Lavigne, but QM Lou doesn't take off for spelling even though
one team's orthography was closer to Lasagne than Lavigne.
That's all I've got. Have a great weekend and don't take any
wooden pasta! (Now I'm hungry...)

Last night's quiz at Dunn Brothers Coffee Shop elicited a few
guffaws as four teams met to bash their brains for answers to
our silly questions!
The Jody Foster Fan Club (JFFC) came away the winner snagging
first place honors with a one point margin! The Rockafellers
slipped to second while the undermanned duo of Deadly Alliance
came in third. Semi-regulars Always Late showed up a little
behind their time (hence their name) and staggered in last
place, appropriate to their moniker.
The Picture Round challenge was to identify the eight, pictured
Time Magazine Persons-of-the-Year. Fame is easy, right? Well,
no one could identify Corazon Aquino, the 11th president of the
Phillipenes, who deposed former dictator Ferdinand Marcos,
although someone got somewhat close by guessing it might have
been Imelda, his shoe hoarding wife. And when in doubt, go
for the joke. One team guessed Mrs. Doubtfire.
Our Handout Round required players to match the Reality Show
with the original network on which it appeared. Congratulations
were lauded to those teams that got the most matches correct.
Accolades were given to those teams that got the most answers
wrong simply because Quiz Master Lou presumed that they spent
their time in more intellectual pursuits rather than staring
at a screen. Well, it's called trivia for a reason...
Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving holiday. We're back at
Dunn Bros on Thursdays so come see us! Au revoir, mes amis!
