TIMMY NOLAN'S

Wow! Timmy Nolan's! The place was rockin' this week with a raucous group of madcap quizzers led by the The Fighting Cottage Crazies, who came from behind in the final round to win the night with a well-executed double-or-nothing move and a final score of 82! Woot! Woot!

This was bad news for It's Your Funeral, who appeared to be coasting to a win after leading in every round until the last one!! Still, we won't eulogize 'em here in this recap, because they still finished a more-than respectable 2nd, with a score of 77.

But it was the battle for 3rd place that really grabbed our attention! Team Hard Pass and Sister Act Goes to Hell: The Final Friday joined Fix It In Post with identical good scores of 62 after the seven regulation rounds, but Fix It In Post fixed it post-regulation with a win in the tie-breaker to take their place in the winner's circle.

Wow! What a night!! Let's do it again next week!

QUIZ RECAP

A big shout out to our winner this week, Ace Tomato Company, a strong team currently ranked #57 in our King Trivia League Standings. ATC certainly aced our quiz this week, finishing with a robust score of 74. Well done!

Slightly higher in the rankings, but finishing second last night are the good folks of What the Sovereign!? (real name Carpe Trivium). They currently stand at #45 in the rankings, but that could change if those ace tomatoes keep beating them up!

In third this week is D Money's Minions, a fun group of frequent quizzers who actually came in first just two weeks ago, and yet have not registered for League play and the big $10,000 tournament coming up at the end of the year.

Wassamatta witchu guys!? Doncha want ten thousand dollars!? Or course you do! We all do! (But quizmasters aren't eligible, dagnabbit!)

QUIZ RECAP

We've noticed a happy trend underway at some King Trivia venues, where many of our younger players are being joined by parents and even grandparents - which is terrific! We've always believed that our weekly quiz is both a team sport and a multi-generational affair. Indeed, the most successful teams incorporate talent of all ages!

And so it was at Timmy Nolan's in Toluca Lake this week. A big shout-out to this week's winners: Sister Act Goes To Camp, who came from behind with a perfectly executed double in the final round to win by five points over Fortress of Chocklitude!

Did I say "perfectly executed"!? You bet I did! Get this: not only did the Sisters correctly identify the titles of the ten most recent James Bond films, but they provided that list in perfect sequence, from most recent on back in time. They certainly had a license to thrill last night. They left their competition shaken, and stirred!

And that outcome illustrated one of the fundamental truths about our quiz: Some nights, it's all about the double-or-nothing strategy. Here's the thing: Fortress of Chocklitude (official name Carpe Trivium and currently ranked #56 in our ongoing tournament) pulled off an amazing and impressive feat last night. They answered every question correctly! That's right! EVERY question! But they opted not to double on four of their rounds, thus leaving themselves vulnerable to those dastardly Sisters!

And with The Fighting Cottage Crazies just a few points behind in third, it was a night of raucous action and stiff competition! The prime ingredients for a great session of King Trivia, and the kind of action even James Bond himself would enjoy!
