About The Slip Bar & Eatery

     At The Slip, we don't think food at a bar has to taste like bar food. In addition to delicious wings, pizza, burgers, and fries, we offer a Blue Zones certified menu with plenty of healthy and vegetarian choices.

 

        Watch the sun set over Redondo’s King Harbor and choose from over 60 hand-selected beers, plus wine and cocktails. The Slip is family-friendly and we have eight TVs so you can watch your favorite teams. We host an Open Mic every Wednesday and live music on the weekends.

 

        We’re located on the International Boardwalk of the Redondo Beach Pier right below the bike path, making us a perfect stop during a bike ride. Parking is also available in the lot at the apex of Harbor Drive and Pacific.

It was a packed house here at The Slip this week! Every single table was occupied when your Quizmaster arrived, except (luckily) one in the back next to the sound system. This meant a whopping 13 teams played our game, and by golly, we only had enough handouts to go around because two teams left! (See photos for my mid-game contingency plan.)

In the end, it was a tie! After a narrow tiebreaker, Tropical Heat guessed the closer basketball score and earned first place with 51 points. They were boosted by a perfect Round 1 and a successful Round 3 double. That meant second went to M Squad and Friend, who also scored that perfect Round 1, Round 3 double, and also a near-perfect Round 5. Third went to Here for the Right Reasons at 50 points! They almost joined that tiebreaker, thanks to yet another perfect Round 1 and successful Round 3 double. Well done, all teams!

Normally I play every week at The Slip, but this week I hosted! Thanks for the welcome Slip! We had a great showing and you really had to be on your game to place this week.. Markel stayed in first the entire game and didn't dare let anyone come close to their title. They had 4 perfect rounds, including a 10 point clue for Guess Who and 3 successful double or nothing's. We also had strong showings from Mr. PoopyButtHole who got 2nd and Slippery Virgins who got third with 56 points. Great job to all teams!

A good two-handsful of teams this week at The Slip brought a warm, boisterous tenor to our game! And it was a close one -- the top three teams were within three points of each other.

In the end, it was Mr. Poopybutthole in first with 56 points! They couldn't remember Hilary Swank's name until given her initials, but they landed that crucial Round 6 20-point double to make up for it. Next was Tropical Heat at 54 points! Their rare 10-point guess in Round 4 had them sitting pretty through the final round. Third went to Here for the Right Reasons at a very close 53 total points! They got that 20-point double as well, and kept their scores good throughout. Well done, all teams!
