QUIZ RECAP

How wonderful! We had four teams compete at the Tilted Mash tonight. What made the night even better was the food truck outside serving fresh lobster dishes. 

We had the repeating teams "Le Tigre" and "Just for Fun" back to throw down the gauntlet against the two new teams "Frank and Beans" and "Team Terry". In the end, the point spread was soooooo close.....for the teams taking the last three slots. The team taking first place was the Tilted Mash's favorite team of knitting knockouts, "Just For Fun" with a 15 point lead over second place! Who is able to dethrone the champions!?

I was able to sit down with two teams, "Team Terry" and "Just for Fun". Team Terry were a team of newcomers who were new to the Tilted Mash, but not to trivia. The couple and their young son tried out trivia, and surprisingly their elementary school age son was a key player. This lead them to join more and more games at various venues. No doubt that earned them a high point value tonight.

"Just for Fun" was back and were a full group of 6 formidible players. I asked if I could take pictures of some of their knitting. The woman pictured is making a shawl and promised to show me the progress at next week's game 🙂

****************Fun Fact of the Week****************
Did you know that the lungs of birds don't expand and contract the same way you might think. In fact, they don't change at all. Birds have multuple air sacs throughout their body. The path of air moves down through a passage towards air sacs near the abdomen during "inhalation". During "exhalation", the air is pushed out of the air sacs, through the lungs, and into air sacs closer to the head. The next step is for the air to be expelled. This means that there is always a breath of fresh air being moved through the lungs!

Happy Cinco De Mayo from us at the Tilted Mash to you!

Today two teams spent the holiday with us to duke it out. They were neck and neck changing their positions at least multiple times, but only one team could claim a prize this week. The final round made all of the difference as "Masks On Pants Off Dance Off" took home the the imaginary championship trophy with a 7 point lead!

Tonight I was able to sit down with the team "Masks On Pants Off Dance Off". This group of friends was from all over the surrounding area, but are long time trivia champions made from a nurse, electrical engineer, and a few folks from the I.T. department. 

I was able to catch up with "Just For Fun" after the show who brought along a friend who was joining us tonight currently on leave from his army base in North Carolina where he keeps track of the stats of his fellow soldiers' physical performance and health. Thankyou for your service!

Contrary to popular belief, Cinco De Mayo is not the holiday that celebrate's Mexico's independence. On May 5th, 1862 the Battle of Puebla was waged between the Mexican Army and French Army on Mexican soil. Against great odds, the Mexican Army claimed victory over their more heavily armed enemy. On May 9th, President Juarez declared the anniversary of the battle a national holiday. The true declaration of Mexican independence was claimed from Spain back in 1810, over half a century before this battle even took place!

What a turnout for tonight's trivia. We reached a total of 5 teams competing neck and neck to take home the gold! Teams that started in last rose through the ranks. With the leaderboard changing so much throughout the rounds, noone dared risking their spot by asking for double-or-nothing for any submissions.

**** Spotlight On Our Teams *****
Here we turn to some familiar faces as well as a few new ones. Team "Just For Fun" was back at it again with a new member bringing their group count to 3 which definitely helped land them in 2nd place. Kinky Capybara, recognized from their last week team name "Peebo Jr." was back again, this time joined by their partner. I was able to sit down with this team once again to find out that the new addition to the group is a former marine and transporter of dangerous goods. A new team joined who caught my eye was "Team Tiny Human" whose small child took a liking to the speaker before the rounds started. This team had a member who decided to spend their birthday with us. Unfortunately, they had to leave between rounds six and seven, bumping them out of the second place slot.

Just another night of the constantly changing luck of trivia night. Can't wait to see you all next time!
