- PUB QUIZ—Tuesdays @ 7:00pm
It was a crowded and lively night at Cactus Jack's this fine late-August Wednesday and everyone wanted to play trivia! Truly ideal conditions for a great game, if you ask me.
73 Roadkill and Pairs Well with Crackers started out strong with 5 points apiece in the general knowledge round, but the war film-themed Picture Round saw Jersey Joe's Alpaca Farm join 73 Roadkill for the lead with 11 total points each (Jersey Joe's managed to get all but one correct this round!). The Hollywood-themed Round 3 put 73 Roadkill solidly in first place, but Short-Form Memory caught up in the Guess Who round thanks to their keen knowledge of Naomi Osaka's childhood.
While no one was able to find the Purple connection in Round 5, 73 Roadkill managed to earn 8 points that round and take back their lead, but the sports-themed Handout Round saw Short-Form Memory get within one measly point.
By Round 7, it was just about anyone's game. But Short-Form Memory managed to pull ahead of 73 Roadkill and steal the lead with a single point more.
All in all, an excellent night of trivia on the Cactus Jack's patio. Hope to see y'all next week! (and check out the winning team's adorable dog in the above picture)

It was a lovely night on the patio of Cactus Jack's and despite a late start due to microphone issues, my time as an actress and sorority girl prepared me to project loud enough that everyone could hear me without one. Four teams stepped up to the plate this time, and a good time was had by all. Not to mention there were a lot of very cute dogs I got to pet while everyone worked on their answers.
Ben Dover came out strong on the general knowledge round leading by 3 points, but 2 Dogs 1 Dude made a quick recovery with his knowledge of "chill" celebrities. The Princess Bride themed round proved difficult for everyone, but by this point, Bezos 64's slow and steady method had them in the race for the winner along with 2 Dogs and Ben Dover. The Guess Who round had everyone looking for their 6 degrees to Kevin Bacon, and with only Bezos 64 and All the Dicks chiming in with the correct answer, it was now anyone's game! All teams were within 1 point of each other.
The Find the Connection round proved difficult as well, with no team correctly guessing the connection, but it did see All the Dicks move into a solid lead for 1st place. This well-traveled audience did know their Wonders of the World, though, so Round 6 saw a huge jump in points for every team, and it was truly anyone's game going into the final round.
Ultimately All the Dicks had the best knowledge of the names of Three Stooges and it put them in first, but 2 Dogs and Ben Dover landed in a tie! A quick tiebreaker gave 2 Dogs 1 Dude the 2nd place gift card, but a game well played to Ben Dover!
Join us next week for another game of trivia and (hopefully) I won't have to yell so much next time.

Tonight's show was....different 😉
First, there was no PA system as the in-house mic had gone missing.
Second, there was no in-house wi-fi as it crashed each time players logged in; so we did the game the (REALLY) old-fashioned way, with teams submitting written answers after the quizmaster went to each table to read each question(!!!). Still everyone had a good time; the patio at Cactus Jack's is alongside a river, the weather was perfect...how could one not have fun?
Kobra Kai and Short Form Memory each scored 5 of 6 in Round 1 to lead by a point; when All The Dicks and Phil & The Buttercups each scored 5 of 8 in the Picture Round, all the teams were tied with 10. The Dicks (!) & The Buttercups each scored 5 of a possible six in the Theme Round to lead by a point, but Kobra Kai moved into first after 4 rounds by correctly answering the Guess Who? question after the 10-point clue! That doesn't happen very often...
From that point on All The Dicks scored 29 of a possible 30 points in the final 3 rounds (9-10-10) to cruise home as winners; Kobra Kai tallied 25 of a possible 30 (9-7-9) to take 2nd, three points back. Phil & The Buttercups stumbled just enough down the stretch to make third place exciting, with Short Form Memory coming up one point short of the theoretical bronze (Olympic metaphor!).
Hats off to the players for rolling with the situation, and for being such nice people. Thanks also to the staff at Cactus Jack's; if you're ever in Evergreen, check it out, it's a lovely setting!
