QUIZ RECAP

Tonight started with a full complement of 6 teams but the newcomers dropped out gradually, leaving a trio of regulars to compete for the honors. Sharks gave it up after a 2 in Round 1 (before I could even take their picture!), whereas Gilbert's Grape had to leave after 3 rounds and DFW's quit after a -1 in the Guess Who round. The 3 returning teams "Band Of Bezonians, Brown Chicken Brown Cow and #momjeans) each started well, with the first 2 netting 5 points in Round 1 and #momjeans scoring 4. But the Bezonians and Brown Chicken pulled away quickly, each hitting successful double-or-nothing tries in Rounds 2 & 3. When #momjeans missed on a double attempt in Round 3, thr game became a 2-team race between Band Of Bezonians and Brown Chicken, Brown Cow (the 2 teams had identical scores of 5, 16 and 12 points in the first 3 rounds). When Brown Chicken scored 6 in the Guess Whoo round (all others scored -1), they took a 7-point lead into Round 5; Band Of Bezonians passed them with a successful double-or-nothing while Brown Chicken (and #momjeans) got 9 out of 10.*

Bezonians led Brown Chicken by 4 points after 5 rounds, and that remained unchanged after each scored 9 out of 10 in the Find The Connection round. Band Of Bezonians hit another double while Brown Chicken correctly answered 9 out of 10 to make the final margin a deceptive 15 points. Band Of Bezonians, in their 2nd game, won going away; Brown Chicken, Brown Cow and #momjeans took the other "podium spots". All teams applauded each other to cap off a fun and friendly night. There was some controversy around 2 of the questions, resolved amicably in all cases. Fortunately it had no direct bearing on the results.

QUIZ RECAP

This week's game was a great one for two reasons; one, there was a full house which always makes for a fun atmosphere, and two, the lead jumped back and forth among several teams all night to make the competition exciting. In the end the night was almost won by a group of first-timers!

No fewer than 4 teams hit on a double-or-nothing bid in Round 1: Brown Chicken, Brown Cow, Kids Under The Table, Longmont Analytica, and MGBK. Brown Chicken and Analytica each got 6 out of 8 in the picture round to share a 1-point lead after two rounds, at which point the real fun began. Kids Under The Table and Spork each hit a successful double-or-nothing in Round 3, moving The Kids into 1st place by 5 in front of Analytica and 6 in front of Brown Chicken. Longmont Ananlytica, #momjeans and Spork all got 8 points in the Guess Who round to jump Analytica into 1st place, with Brown Chicken 3 points back and both Kids Under The Table and Spork 4 points behind.

*Two things worth mentioning here: MGBK correctly answered the 10-point clue in Round 4, and first timers Band Of Bezonians were at this point dead last, with 14 points through 4 rounds and a full 10 points behind the 6th-place team*

In Round 5 (Find The Connection), Band of Bezonians, Brown Chicken and MGBK each successfully doubled, moving Brown Chicken into 1st place by 2 points in front of MGBK, with Longmont Analytica 11 points back in 3rd. Brown Chicken's 9 out of 10 in Round 6 moved them a point further ahead of MGBK (60-57), while a 2nd consecutive successful double by the Bezonians moved them into 3rd with 54 points; a failed double try by Kids Under The Table dropped them out of the running.

Brown Chicken, Brown Cow scored 9 in the final round, leaving the door open for others; being unsure about one of the answers, they elected (wisely, as it turned out) not to double. Fully 5 teams out of 7 hit successful doubles in the final round: MGBK, Band of Bezonians, Spork, #momjeans and Kids Under The Table. The first two of those vaulted past Brown Chicken, who faltered late to finish third. All credit and congratulations to MGBK, who won the night with an excellent late push. But I must also point out first-timers Band Of Bezonians; trailing the field by a wide margin after 4 rounds and sitting on 14 points, they doubled successfully in each of the final 3 rounds, scoring 60 points and leaping into 2nd place (3 points behind the winners).

QUIZ RECAP

After last week's SRO night, only 3 teams of regular turned out for tonight's game, as the lovely weather, graduations etc. kept a lot of people away. First-timers Gelby joined in for 4 rounds before departing, leaving Brown Chicken, Brown Cow and Ritt Momson to battle for second place. That's because #momjeans removed all doubt early on by hitting on successful double-or-nothing bids in each of the first 3 rounds! With a 40-24 lead after 3 rounds, the ladies of #momjeans got 32 right of a possible 40 down the stretch to win easily. Brown Ckicken twice netted zero on failed doubles (rounds 1 & 5) to fall behind early but were successful twice as well, in rounds 3 & 6. Ritt Momson trailed them by 10 entering round 7 and were forced to try a double which failed, leaving them 3rd with 41 points while Brown Chicken were runners-up with 57. This night was all about #momjeans (again), congratulations ladies!
