About Longmont Public House

When a fine dining Chef decides to take the edge off and open a classic Public House:

For years, I have worked and thrived in fine dining restaurants, and during the last few years I knew I wanted to open my own place. I dreamed of a restaurant that combined all the types and styles of food & beverage, as well as overall restaurant brands that I frequented the most – restaurants and pubs that provided excellence in consistency and quality at a fair price based on the overall experience and environment.

I knew I couldn’t’ let go of all the detail and intensity of running a fine dining restaurant, such as my love of the freshest product available, carefully cared for local ingredients and an educated staff to execute my service vision. I wanted to keep the things I liked about fine dining (service excellence, outstanding food quality, specialty cocktails, local craft beer, a thoughtful wine list, etc.) and dump all the stuffiness of fine dining; reservations, stiff, coarse service and a menu that requires exhaustive explanation with shocking prices.

The result is Longmont Public House, a Longmont restaurant and Longmont bar, named for the traditional pubs and local restaurants as a place that serves as an extension of our community gathering places for anyone seeking house made food and hand-crafted drink. The Longmont Public House menu plays to good food, delicious drinks and a warm, comfortable environment while applying the philosophy of top quality food products to a more casual dining setting. We present to you what we believe will take its place as the best restaurant in Longmont.

The lead changed hands repeatedly tonight and the entire competition was extremely tight at the top all night.  #momjeans hit the double-or-nothing in round 1 to jump out in front but were passed by Cylons? who doubled down successfully in the picture round.  Both Ritt Momson and What's in the Box hit the double-or nothing in round 3, after which only 4 points separated the top 4 teams.  Paging Rick Stoner began their push, getting 10 out of 10 in round 4 and again in round 6; their double-or-nothing gamble in the latter frame netted them 20 points and vaulted them into the lead.  Entering the final round, only 4 points separated the top 3; this round was a real stumper and 3 out of 10 was the best score any team could muster.  Ritt Momson made up 1 point on the leaders (3-2) but it was not enough as Paging Rick Stoner held on to win the night by a single point, with Cylons? coming in third.

Tonight saw a very close competition at LPH.  After a tight start 3 teams separated themselves from the pack: #MomJeans, Kids Under The Table and The Socialists. The Socialists rode a successful double-or-nothing in the Find The Connection round to leap from 5th place to 1st; they led #MomJeans by a single point and Kids Under The Table by 2.  When each of these teams scored a 9 on the 2nd handout (round 6), they entered the final round with 2 points separating the top 3.  Three teams went for the double-or-nothing in round 7; each scored a zero, including #MomJeans, who dropped to 3rd.  Kids Under The Table got 6 right in round 7 but it was not enough to catch The Socialists, who cruised home to the victory with 8 correct answers to win by 4 points.  Thanks to Quizmaster Gil and the great staff at the LPH!

It was a spirited contest tonight at LPH as six teams faced off.  After a tightly-bunched beginning, 3rd Is The New 1st and Gaybors began to separate themselves from the rest of the field.  3rd Is The New 1st achieved the unique feat of going from 1st place after round 3 to last place after round 4 to 1st place after round 5 (after hitting on a double-or-nothing in the Find The Connection round).  In the Guess Who? Round, 5 teams submitted the correct answer after the 10 point clue; only 3rd Is The New 1st needed additional clues, and they turned in the wrong answer after the 4-point clue for a score of -1.  That lost point turned out to be costly.  Four teams went for broke by trying for double-or-nothing in the final round; all got nothing, leaving Gaybors and 3rd Is The New 1st to vie for the honors.  3rd Is The New 1st trailed by 5 entering the final round, and were able to correctly name 8 of the OPEC member nations while Gaybors could only name 4; the point lost by 3rd Is The New 1st in the Guess Who? Round turned out to be the difference as Gaybors edged 3rd Is The New 1st by a score of 59-58.  Gil Ireland-Ashley hosted, Paul Bailey posting this on his behalf
