What better way to bid adieu to summer than with bar trivia? 8 teams must've asked themselves the same question before battling brains on Tuesday evening though, though 3 apparently waved the white flag early.

The Thundercat Ho's demonstrated early how Double or Nothing can change the makeup of the game, jumping out to an early lead after the Picture Round (seriously - who's ever heard of the French car company Citroen before?). Scores were close until feisty regulars #possumcore one upped the duo, flexing Double or Nothing not once, but twice on both Rounds 2 and 6, grabbing a lead that could not be surmounted when The Thundercat Ho's fumbled naming many of the 10 reoccuring regular characters on The Office in Round 7 ("I only watched the UK version," said the man in the orange and white striped shirt). 

A healthy mix of veterans and newcomers helped dance Tubby Hook through September as they look ahead to the Fall season and the upcoming 2-week absence of Quizmaster Jim, who finally gets to celebrate his wedding and honeymoon, both of which have been long delayed due to COVID!

QUIZ RECAP

Tubby Hook Tavern was lively and chatty throughout the evening. Teams were cheering each other on and razzing each other about their team names and answers.

First place was never in doubt as Sharper Than Peas went slow and steady to win this race, opting to "Single" in lieu of "Double" in every round.

This New York crowd was thrilled to have Lin-Manuel Miranda as the Guess Who, since he apparently used to sing karaoke in this very building! Remember, he's from Inwood not Washignton Heights. 

Trivial N00b climbed the ranks throughout the night to eventually take over second place, and the Thundercat Ho's bobbed and weaved their way to third.

QUIZ RECAP

It was a rollercoaster of emotion at Tubby Hook on Tuesday experiencing the lows and highs (and lows again) of competition. At 7:55 it appeared as though we'd only have the bare minimum of 3 teams competing, but by the time the game officially kicked off a little past 8:00, 8 teams - including 5 newcomers - had signed up to battle it out.

Perhaps it was the Labor Day hangover, the fact that many of the teams had children in their ranks, or the fact that The Wrecking Crew was returning after a long hiatus and had a strangle hold on the lead by Round 5, but 3 teams called it quits early meaning that only 5 teams were leftover hoping to here their name called out victoriously at the end. 

Ultimately, the game proved to be a competition between the haves and the have nots, with the top 3 teams taking full advantage of multiple Double or Nothing usages while the others struggled mightily matching up the actors to their respective golf movies in Round 6.
